I used to play trumpet for two years in my school's concert band, but than i dropped it because i hated it lol. This upcoming school year, my school introduced beginner guitar as a class because vh1 save the music donated guitars so i think i'm gonna start playing guitar.

so, what instrument(s) do you play?

Rutherford The Brave

Rutherford The Brave

I bought them, when I was basically homeless and living with a foster family I decided to pick it up when I found that someone threw a twelve string in the trash. I used to go into Boston and open my case people would tip me :)

i used to play the trombone, and LOVED IT but had to stop when i broke my arm. then i did african drumming in middle school, and liked it more. so i think if i had to continue a music career i would play percussion or someting.

Musical people in my family. Naturally my answer would be:
My voice is the only instrument I need to project the sounds of my personality.

But over the years I learned and still play:
-Acoustic Guitar
-Bass Guitar
-Violin
-Flute
-Saxophone
-Piano
-Piccolo
- and I'm currently mastering Electric Guitar

Moving between acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, etc. is pretty easy since they're so similar. You also just pick up a general awareness of the music, maybe learn to read notation, and it makes it easier to play a lot of things.

To answer the question of how one plays multiple instruments. You don't even have to know how to read music, you just have to have a good ear. I do both, but I'm better at reading music. I kind of suck at playing by ear. If you learn music theory though, it should just come naturally. I play all of my instruments with sheet music except guitar. I play guitar by ear and sometime I cheat and use tabs.

And I took like 6 months of clarinet lessons back in 5th grade.

true. i can play things by ear but it takes ahwile.. but sheet music i only read like every fourth note or so. unless its a hard piece/odd note combinations. music is actually pradictable

Music is very predictable. That is how jazz works out so well, improvisation has to follow certain, predictable criteria.

Drums, and I'm told....Exceptionally Well.

Good enough to be considered a Concert drummer with the school symphony.

But I just (honestly) view the talents of a drummer...basically...timing and feeling...to be NOWHERE NEAR as much talent, as say...someone who plays the piano, organ, guitar, clarinet.

Jeeesss...I just take two (2) sticks and hit a fabric/plastic top; How much "talent" is really there?

Buy a beginner's kit and plug it in. Tabs are easy to read. You'd be surprised at how simple some of the most complicated-sounding things are.
