A NSW teenager is fighting for his life after a bomb he was making exploded in his face.
The 18-year-old remains in an induced coma after the explosion occurred late Saturday at a home in Glendale, south of Newcastle.
Police say the teenager was constructing a "home-made explosive device" at the property in Reservoir Road, and it detonated about 6.30pm (AEST).
"The device exploded causing severe burns and lacerations to the man's hands, torso and face," NSW Police Force said in a statement.
"Police are reminding the community of the dangers associated with making these devices, and their potentially life-threatening consequences."
The critically wounded man was rushed by ambulance to John Hunter Hospital, where he remains on life support.
Police say their inquiries into the incident are continuing.
