Automatic or Manuel Transmission?

We were arguing about this at work...
For the drivers out there, what kind of transmission do you think is better?

Automatic
or
Manuel (Stick Shift)

For me:
I won't drive anything but a stick, it's the first thing I look for when looking at cars. I learned how to drive in a stick :)

- Better gas mileage
- You won't become a lazy driver
- You feel more in control
- It's a VERY useful skill, if you can drive a stick shift, you can drive any car/truck.
- It's fun to be able to rev up your engine while your driving = ]
- Seriously, most people I know can't say that they know how to drive a stick, so it's a thing to add on to my list of 'skills'.

I want to learn how to drive a stick. Until then I really can't say which is better until I've tried it out.

I'm saying automatic because the less things you need to worry about doing while driving the better.

It's a manual tranny for me, all the time. It gives much more control over the car, and it's much more involving!

Stick is better for control and gas mileage. While automatic is just move convenient.

I despise that whole posh "ya I drive a stick" bull I can drive a standard my dads 1ton is a standard so is my mums car MY suv is an automatic and I LOVE it

I just think it's a good skill to have :P
You CANNOT beat better mileage...

I do wish I had my truck still...

A manual transmission is more reliable and provides better mileage. An automatic is just slightly more convenient.

Manual FTW!!! i just feel more in control. Plus they are better for racing...not that I do much racing anyway. I wish my car were a manual...

It's a manual for me. Like 99% of Irish cars are manual.

But tis great, I love manuals. Not so great for you Americans if you want to drive in Ireland. We won't let you with your license because we take it for granted you can't drive our cars. :P

Lazy? I think not I've been able to drive a standard since my dad taught me on our old 4runner when I was like 10. When your on nice roads and in a car there fun. When your on a shitty ass mud bogged road in the middle of the night pulling a loaded cargo trailer...there a pain in the ass and inefficient as far as fuel consumption autos are fine IF you don't just slam on the gas (which i do cause you know....fuck earth)
