I forgot to add this to the other thread.

I'm 15 years old, ALL of my friends date and go out with girls and have gfs/bfs. Though my dad thinks I'm too young to be dating. He said I shoudlnt date until I'm 18!!! Whos is wrong? Me for thinking dating and having a gf is ok, or him for thinknig I'm way too young. And if it is ok with me, then what do I say to my dad? He's understanding, hes not very mean or strict or anything.

Prove your maturity to him somehow, and if that doesn't work, do it anyway. The right person can appear at any point in your life, regardless of age...

I think your dad is being a little to strict, i think he should let you date, but there is nno right or wrong, but i know some peoples parents that are like that and they still do it, but im not advising you to disobey your father but if i were you i would probally date anyways. But remember, im not advising you to do anything im just stating something.

Tell your father some nice people on the internet said you can date when you want to. ^^

Hmm well it is your dad's decision
A harsh one, but it is his.
There really isn't a right or wrong, but he is being strict
Try proving your ready, and helping out, and maybe asking him why you can't go out.
Or, you could go to like school dances or something like that.

One personal comment on one thing that Deschain siad in the first post:

When Deschain says "prove your maturity to your dad" this DOES NOT mean that you need to go behind his back and start dating show you can show him that "you're old enough". All this will do is increase his hold upon you and lessen his trust in you.

moving on..

If your dad is understanding and not strict, than the chances are the issue b'twn you is semantics, how you're defining the term 'dating'. You might want to talk with him about what he considers 'dating', and what you do, and see if you cannot agree on something that is mutually acceptable.

When parents are 'strict' or unreasonable, the decisions they make usually have nothing to do with the child, it's about the parents needs (usually control). However, when a parent is decribed as 'reasonable' and 'understanding', that would suggest that they take your needs and feelings into consideration, so your dad just might have a different idea about what a 'date' is and what it means, probably based on his own experiences as a teen.

Clarify with him what you mean and what you want.

I dont understand why it is his dads decision! Its should be his choice to decide when he wants to start dating!. If you ready I agree with just talk o your dad because I really think that it should be your choice who you date and when you date them!
But also parents are weird, My dad never minded if I dated he even tried to encourage me at one point. But now I actually have a bf, he is all over protective, saying things like "I wanna meet this boy" and asking me where I go whenever I leave to go out with him or my friends. Its so weird lol!!
*Sigh* Parents!

Well you have to understand that you Dad is both right and wrong.

Relationships when you are young don't last as long as you want to so maybe he is probably trying to help you out.

You can probably convince him that you want to have a friend status relationship. Maybe talk to him that this person is someone that you want to have a relationship with.

He is also wrong because you should be able to have a social life at your age. Even though you can't do most things until you are 18, you can still date and be friends.

So just talk some sense into him. That you just want to be friends with this person. Tell him that I understand that you think that relationships won't work out and all that. But he is right and wrong on both parts. Just talk to him about it.
