I was wondering if we could have a category for those of us who have a job? like to talk about our experiences, or to seek some advice on how to handle annoying supervisors or whatever. :)

Hmm...I don't really see a demand for this. I guess if a lot of these questions pop up a forum could be created. Otherwise - no.

I agree with Vegas
There isn't really a demand for it

Well, we can always see.

Just because there isn't a place to post about something doesn't mean you can't post it.

You can ask a moderator through PM where to put it, and when in doubt, post it in the white padded room and wait for it to be moved.
The white padded room is our general forum, so its the best place to ask about things we don't have forums for (like homework, jobs, etc). You can rest assured that things will be moved if they need to be.

I hate my job, I'd rather not talk about both of them, its just to exhausting.

I don't think its a bad idea. A lot of people get their first real jobs at 15-16. My only concern is if VT is big and active enough to have a dedicated forum for this. If not now, I think this is something could be possible in the future.

School/careers is an avenue I'd like to see VT take sometime.

I like the idea really. My only problem is I think it wouldn't survive as a main forum, if we launced right into it. New forums need to be broken in slowly, start as a sub forum and work its way from there.

School/careers is an avenue I'd like to see VT take sometime.
However, this I love. This we could do.

That would be good = ]
I guarantee if it were solely a work forum I'm be complaining about customers too much, lol.
But add in school and it would make a good mix,
Especially since advice could be given about balancing work and school,
When I first got my job I definitely could have used advice.

I thought this was a terrible idea until I saw Ant's post. I agree 100%, that's a great idea. A forum on careers/education seems like a great idea, it includes all members and I could see it getting quite a bit of attention.

Yeah.
I changed my mind after ants post
Maybe if we put school in there with jobs, it would be more active

its an o.k. idea. We should definatley have some content for a forum like that. And like Alex said, it should also start out as a subforum before it works its way to a full fledged forum - from my time here I've learned that we want to be as sure as possible about new suggestions, especially forums.

But really I haven't seen one thread about jobs except "do you work" in the past year so there isn't that big of a demand for it. whatever.

A School/Work forum really can't start as a sub-forum because there isn't a parent forum that would properly fit it.

I think it would be nice. We could give advice on how to find a job. How to make resumes and stuff. I think it owuld be nice but I think that it would start getting repetitive after about a month. Although i think it would be nice considering we are teens and we are entering the workforce.

MoveAlong
July 20th, 2008, 08:06 PM
yeah, that's the thing. It would get repetitive.

Maybe it could encompass not just jobs, but Education and Careers in general. That's a broader subject, so it would have less potential to have same things asked over and over again, and would fit nicely under Help and Advice. Plus, it would apply to everybody, not just people old enough to have a job.

Like Ant said..

I think it's a good idea. I hate subforums but yeah I think it would be a great addition to the site.

I like that idea. Although I don't want it to be a subforum.

We could name it Your Future

although that is a kinda broad name but i really like it

Yeah.
School/ career would be great I suppose. I was actually going to ask if we could have a school forum, but since this was already mentioned...then let's go for it =)

sorry but imo that is extremely cheesy :P

plus that seems like an innapropriate name for something in Help and Advice, if we want it to be a help and advice forum.

Yeah... we care about your future.
It should be called, "Look ma and dad... I'm a big kid now" .
kidding.
We should have a contest for the best name.

Oh well yeah of course but in the past we have always been able to contribute to the naming.

OH just forget what I said. lmao
Just once again I think its a good idea.
