Since I usually struggle when coming up with screen names, I thought I would put this together for others like me. (I can't be the only one, right?)
Step1
Try different variations of the screen name. In most cases, adding your favorite numbers, symbols, or changing the spelling can help you make your screen name unique.
Step2
Use a screen name generating service. On THIS (http://www.makewords.com/) site (makewords.com), you put in three adjectives describing yourself. You can put in your name, hobbies, favorite color, location and more. After putting in three selections, the site will generate dozens of screen names to choose from. (I find this VERY helpful)
Step3
Think about your identity. Due to the rise of identity theft cases, you want to make your screen name safe as well. You may choose to forgo using too many distinguishing details and pick a variation on a favorite song, artist, or book.
WARNING:Choose wisely. It is wise to choose a screen name that doesn't include your first and last name. Examples:
* Sally Johnston = Not a wise choice
* Joe Michels = Not a wise choice
Do not divulge your location. It is wise to choose a screen name that does not give away where you live (Town, City or even the state). Examples:
* Denver Chick Lucy = Not a wise decision.
* Madison Avenue Rocks! = Not a wise decision.
It's a good idea to use a screen name that's not threatening, or it may make people spite you.
* I Hate XXXX
* I Beat Up White Ppl yo- Obviously, that's gonna get some angry people trying to come to your street and hurt you.18069812452SmithStreet - Not a good choice, assuming that that is your house number and street.
Step4
Keep it professional. Makes sure you are also picking a name that correlates with the service you are joining. For example, you wouldn't want to pick sexxygirrl247 if you'll be using your name for blogging, or reviews.
Thank you for reading, and I wish you good luck on all of your future online adventures!
