Is there a way to transfer all of my music on my computer to my new laptop? I was thinking I would use my jump drive, but is there an easier way?

If you have an iPod that is synced with your computer, plug it in to your laptop and simply open up Computer/My Computer, click on your iPod, and drag and drop the song(s) on to iTunes, Windows media center, My music folder, or where ever you want it.

Thanks, Caitlin...I don't have an iPod, but I should be able to do that with my other mp3 player right? That's another thing I have thought about doing. I guess that a jump drive would work fine though.

What about a usb cord connecting the two computers and then like syncing them? Would that work?

Do you have a router? Just hook both laptops up to the router and set up your music folder for network sharing.

Flash drive? Depends on how much music you have though. I'm also not sure that when you put stuff on a flash drive it becomes read-only.

I've done it before (I thought I was going to lose everything on my computer one time, although I don't actually know if it worked or not), I was just wondering if there was an easier way. I can almost fit all of my music on there though.

Your method will depend on the amount of music you have and what type of equipment you already have and/or (not) willing to buy. There are a number of things you can do. If your collection is small enough, you can use a flash, or jump, drive to move them (by chunks if necessary). There's backing up as files (as opposed to the slower CD burning and ripping) to CD-RW (around 700 MB) or DVD +/- RW discs (around 4.7 GB) and then copying them to your new computer. You can also use an external hard drive to move them. If your MP3 player has a sync feature, you can sync your player to your computer.

I think I'll try my mp3 player first, and if that doesn't work, then I'll do flash drive, or just buy some DVD discs.
