I suck it up and get off. My dad never turns this computer off, unless it's thundering and lighting REALLY bad. Our storms are usually at night here, so it isn't usually an issue.

I always shut down my computer during a storm. It doesn't matter if it's just thunder. Lightning can strike at any time and it can be quick. It can fry the computer. Most of the time this computer is shut off even if there isn't a storm.

Moved to Tech Junkies.
I unplug it if it gets really bad. I didn't believe it at first when I moved to Georgia (I thought my grandma was crazy) and after one bad storm a few months of being here, our microwave, cordless phone, and VCR stopped working. That convinced me then.
But I've been gone all day and a storm will come with everything left plugged no one home and things turned out ok. It really depends on the severity of the storm, but I take no chances. It doesn't do any harm having it unplugged for an hour rather than leaving it plugged then having to spend a grand on a new computer.

If we ever have thunderstorms here and my dad is working, he often gets calls because fire alarms or burgular alars have been fried from a power surge.
You can get a power surge through the mains or through the phone line. I always unplug my computer and the phone line if it gets close.

It's up to you. I'm not risking my £800 ($1600) computer though.

I usually unplug my computer in a really bad thunderstorm. I don't unplug anything else, but that's because I don't care about the other shit that much. Not that I care about this computer anyway...

I've got a Macbook, nothing to unplug.
I'm not too crazy about thunderstorms, I pretty much leave everything on, but I won't talk or text on the phone during one.

With my laptop, I usually just unplug it and keep using it.
With my Desktop, I just leave it on. Doesn't bother me. If the lightning can make it through my UPS/Surge Protector, then I'd be surprised. It really doesn't bother me.
It's not going to make a difference whether you have it on or off in a storm. What would possibly make a difference is whether it's plugged in or not.

My computer runs ecentualy 24/7, i guess it would be good to unplug all my valuable electronics when there's a storm, but i have a surge protecter, and am not worried about it enough to bother.

I leave everything plugged up, rain, sleet, snow or shine.

I keep mine plugged. But last storm I waited to see how severe the storm will get. When trees get hit by lightning, that's when I finally unplug.
