Exercise, eat healthy, green foods, relaxe when you are under stress. Loseing wait is not a instant thing, it takes time. Most so called diets hurt you more than help. Technicly a diet is what you eat so just change you eating habits to something more healthy. Avoid fast food restraunts and stuff like that. For more info if you want read The Spectrum by Dean Ornish

Yeah I'd really exercise. If you've an issue with your body image working out will not only make you feel better about yourself, but you'll feel better mentally. You may not think it now but once you get out there and run that mile you'll feel great. You can tell people that you ran the mile, and maybe do it every other day.

Exercise is a great thing, you can get a few friends together and go on what me and my buddies call a "social run" which is where we chat it up run to different places and have a great time. When you've got a friend with you it's a lot easier to keep going.

Avoid slim fast and other diets like that. I mean why would you want to when you could make yourself a really tasty healthy salad with the same amount of calories and and even more nutritional value? Ask whoever cooks in your family to maybe adopt a lower sodium and fat/oil meals. Cut out soda's and exchange them for low sugar 100% fruit drinks like Juicy Juice and Five Alive.

Drink tons of water and occasionally a gatorade to keep your electrolytes up.

Hey, I suggest going to

www.mypyramid.gov

And there is a link to "Make my plan" or something.

If you follow those guidelines, it should get you to a healthy weight, not "skinny" but a healthy weight. ;)

+1 Rep. Great add-on, he's right it's more important to be a healthy weight than a skinny weight.

here's what really helped me. raw food diet. just eat fruits, nuts and whatever non-cooked food you can get your hands on. that means no bread, daiy and many other things. if it's been heated over 118 degrees farenheight at any point in it's production you can't eat it. it sounds horrible but it's actually really easy and I LOST 25 POUNDS IN ONE MONTH WITH IT. weight loss can be quick and easy :D it might not work for you though, it just doesn't work for some.

Hm, yeah, except don't eat raw meat.

So, are you going to continue with that lifestyle, only eating raw foods?

The thing about weight loss, I don't like that word, it should be weight MANAGEMENT.

It is more important to manage your weight, than to just lose 25 pounds, because I can almost guarantee, you WILL gain the weight back after the diet is over.

Also, one of the things about weight loss, it NEEDS to be GRADUAL adjustment. I swear, if you go into your fridge right now, and throw out EVERY unhealthy food and replace it with foods you've never eaten before, you will *NOT* succeed with wieght management. You *ARE* emotionally attatched to yuor food, its jsut a fact. If you were forced to eat foods you've never eaten before, you run a higher risk for depression, not to mention you won't like it!

Still, if you follow that website I showed you, it will help you maintain a healthy weight, because not only does it customize for you, it also includes exercise! Sometihng the OLD food guide pyramid didn't include. You know why? Because the old pyramid was made for people in the Army and Marines, you NEEDED those higher calorie intakes. If normal people followed the old food guide pyramid, we'd be extremely overweight. :\

Now, back to exercise. It doesn't have to be a lot. Just a little bit, and this is going to look like I am advertising something, but it *does* work. It is an exercise program called chair-a-cise, where you literally, can exercsie, while sitting down. But don't be fooled, when I did it, I *was* tired afterwards, it is a brutal, but GOOOODD workout.

http://chairacise.com/

Also, when I did the charicise, the guy who actually invented it was there to do it with us, because he is friends with my PE instructor, so he told us in person. It suggests using weights, and i used 5 pound weights in each hand, and my arms were SO sore, is uggest using maybe 1 or 2 pound weights, it WILL be tiring. :P

Now, let's talk a little bit about the body.

The body is an amazing thing. However, it has some flaws, such as fat.

If you eat something your body can't use, it is stored as fat. Right away.

It is hard to burn the fat off, we all know that. But do you know why?

It's because of the way your body uses energy. First line of energy comes from carbohydrates. Your body stores any leftover carbs as fat, since it wasn't used as energy. The second line comes from PROTEIN. Protein helps build muscle and repair cells, very good to eat while excercising. The best part, is protein can NOT be stored as fat! The body will eliminate it if it isn't used, not stored as fat. The LAST line to be used, is stored fat. This is why it is hard to burn fat, because you have to go through the carbs and protein.

Also, when you first start to excersise, you *will* lose LOTS of weight. Because it is stored up water. But don't distress when it starts going back up, or not losing as fast, that's normal, it may even be muscle building up a bit! (Muscle weighs more than fat!!)

So yeah, I hope that wasn't too much to read, and I hope I got most of it right. My health teacher would be so proud. :P

Don't "try" diets, but change your overall diet, as in, what you eat, for a lifestyle.

This is the exact link to the Mypyramid thing.

http://www.mypyramidtracker.gov/planner/launchPage.aspx

Fill in that info, and try to follow those guidelines!

Make sure you READ the nutrition labels on food, and look at the ingredients.

First and foremost, don't diet. A "get thin quick" thing, DOES NOT WORK. As Nighter said, change your lifestyle.
Try to get support from your friends and family. If your friends are always off eating junkfood, ask them maybe to eat before you go and meet with them. If your family is ALWAYS going and ordering fastfood, make an effort to get them to cook more. Or cook more FOR them, if it's possible. It's a lot harder to lose weight if everyone else around you seems to be trying to make you gain it.
You have to find out what's making you overweight and avoid it. Slowly cut it out. Whether it be fast food, chips, chocolate, candy or sweets in general. Don't buy them, don't have them in the house. Ask your parents not to buy them, or to put them somewhere out of sight. Out of sight, out of mind.
At the same time, you have to replace them with things that are healthy. Yogurt or pudding can replace sweet things, popcorn can replace salty things. But substitute slowly. Don't just cut everything out and deny yourself all the things you want all at once. You'll just crack and binge. Slowly introduce yourself to foods that are good for you, while trying to avoid the foods that aren't.
Another thing is Portion Control. Sometimes it's not always what you eat, but how much. At meals, to portion foods only to be about as big as your fist. If you go out to eat, allow yourself that one day, but try to avoid desert if you can. You need to decide what's more important: losing weight, or that one piece of pie.
Count Calories and ingredients. Limit yourself to a certain number of calories a day. 1500 to 2000 is a good number. Don't eat foods that are chocked full of fats and calories. Try to avoid using too many toppings (ketchup, mustard, etc.). A little's okay, but don't drown your food in it.
Eat more vegetables and fruits. I'm not saying cut out meat, but maybe fit some more vegetables into your diet. They clean out your system so well, and they're really good for the metabolism.
And I see you're exercising, which is good, but only if you're balancing out by eating right.
Go for walks. A lot of people under-estimate how walking can be good exercise, it really can be. If you're going to the corner store to pick up some milk, walk there, don't get a drive. Walk WHEREVER you can. Whether it be to a friend's house, or just randomly.
BALANCE. A very important thing is BALANCE. Maybe you've been denying yourself candy for awhile and you really want some. Don't have any, unless you're going to work it off.
Also, make sure these changes are GRADUAL. Don't shock your system by cutting out all junkfood all at once. If you eat fastfood a lot, like say, 3 times a week, start going 2 times, then once, then none if you can.
I've lost weight too, and it can be done. It will not be fast, it will take some time, but anything worth doing is worth doing RIGHT. But you need to do it healthy, gradual and in a way that will not only change your weight, but change your life.
I hope that helps a little bit. =)
