Did you choose to be straight? Or do you think you've always been that way?

I've just always been attracted to girls. I've always been this way.

I just was that way. On the reservation all boys worked on the farms, I didn't see guys as like my loves, I saw them as workers who were just like me. I really can't put my finger on the real reason.

I've definitely always been straight, I'm so comfortable with my sexuality that I can make jokes about it and feel comfortable when I'm faced with semi-naked / naked female bodies (e.g. changing rooms or films etc)... I'm sure that I've never had a sexual thought about a girl either.

HOWEVER -I don't know why- I sometimes wish that I was attracted to women (aswell as or instead of men). This may be to do with not wanting to blend in with majorities or whatever.

I'm not sure. I don't know that my heterosexuality is in my genes, but I assume that I have genes that code towards the production of something telling my brain that girls are sexually and emotionally attractive. I also think that I have genes that code towards the production of something that tells my brain that guys are sexually and emotionally attractive. I think my brain just is leaning more towards the straight side. I think my decisions and experiences so far in my life have also helped direct me towards heterosexuality.

I think as a child I forced myself to be straight because of my desire to live. And I definitely question it constantly, but I think after so many years of forcing yourself to be straight that I just made the change and became straight I guess... or convinced myself. I think that I might not be straight, but for now I am.

I think Adam described what I would have said pretty well (better than I would have). I've always just leaned more on the straight side, it's not really a choice I made or anything, I just find girls much more emotionally attractive and more sexually attractive than I find guys.

This morning I choose the rye toast over the English muffin. After much thought, I choose the Levi's jeans I recently bought, and put them on one leg at a time. For lunch, it was the tuna salad. I choose to fill my car up with Citgo, and drive at the speed limit. I listened to Beethoven the whole day, choosing to start with his 3rd Symphony. When I came home, I choose to hang out with my family, play with the dog, and take a second serving of the (what else?) chocolate gelato I choose to pick up at Cafe Dante (my favorite Italian confectioner in NYC).

I did NOT choose my sexuality. At some point, I realized that I was straight, and since then, have continued to live my life, putting my pants on one leg at a time, and stopping for Italian chocolate gelato whenever I can. I suspect that my membership in the human race accounts for most of this, too.

Nice Sam. I'd rep you for that, but 1 I don't think infinite rep can go up too much more (depends on your definition of infinity) and 2 I gave out too much rep and 3 I think I already gave you some anyways.

I think I may have said it before, but:

I like girls too much to be gay. =P

So, I guess I didn't choose to be straight, but chose not to be gay or bi.

I always considered myself straight. When I was 4-6, I took a painted iron ring(because my mom wasnt nice enough to get me a real one..) and proposed to 2 girls over those three years.

I have always considered myself straight, never really thought about it. Just noticed her one day and never looked back!

I think I may have said it before, but:

I always considered myself straight. When I was 4-6, I took a painted iron ring(because my mom wasnt nice enough to get me a real one..) and proposed to 2 girls over those three years.

Out of the 18 on-topic responses, 16 people believe that in some way, they have always been straight, and that's just the way they are.

I think it's safe to assume that after reading this thread, most people believe that they didn't choose their sexuality (heterosexuality). And they themselves would know better than anyone else.

I dunno, its just the way I am. I knew that I liked girls from a very very young age. Like 5 or 6 years old. Once I had experienced girls, like kissing and what not in middle school, there was no turning back.
