A company called Heap Media created a search engine called Blackle, it is powerd by google and is black. Now you may be asking how is this green well its simple

Blackle saves energy because the screen is predominantly black. "Image displayed is primarily a function of the user's color settings and desktop graphics, as well as the color and size of open application windows; a given monitor requires more power to display a white (or light) screen than a black (or dark) screen."

ok its not that simple but saves energy and it looks cool

anyway ive bookmarked it and will be using it instead of the regular google for now on and i suggest you do to

http://www.blackle.com

There was a thread about this a long time back. It doesn't save any energy on LCD screens because they use pretty much the same power no matter what they're displaying anyway.

It does work on old CRT monitors because the amount of people using them is getting less and less now.

I don't like Blackle anyway, you cant search images or maps easily.
