do you have a best friend? and if you do, are they the same sex as you? do you think there is anything strange or weird about having a besty that is of the opposite sex?

i do have a best friend. until before i moved to sydney my besty was a guy. but when we moved to sydney my besty became a girl, who is now my gf. for some reason i have always felt more comfortable with her then any other friend and even if we weren't dating, she would still be my besty. i don't think there is anything strange or weird about it, but maybe there is?

I used to have two then then one of them left me sitting outside in the cold whilst he was partying (the story is in my blog)

My best friend atm is probably one of the longest friends ive had. We do loads together and last summer I was at his house every day, He's a boy btw.

I think its normal to have a best friend who is a girl. It may look awkward at times but hey if shes your best friend its cool.

no there's nothing wrong with being friends with people who are the opposite gender

my bestie's female...technically. she behaves like such a guy tho [haha]. we've been there for eahc other since like kindergarten :)

and she'll be like the only person i know in highschool[besides the a-hole boys from elementary school..] too haha [oh well, maybe she'll help me find friends, she's super social]

Stephen, you know, your relationship with Jo sounds just so lovely! You are really growing as a person and a man as a result. It's very cool watching this.

There's nothing wrong with your g/f being your besty (I love that expression, btw). The potential difficulty becomes the over dependence or over reliance on one person for all your emotional needs, for feeling good. If you're aware of that, it might be good to have Jo as your 'best besty', but also maintain your other relationships, too. They're valuable, and broaden your sources for those good feelings, so that you're not so exclusively dependent on Jo.

Oh man i have had so many best friends. Moving a lot can do that.

PreSchool+Kindergarten= One same gender best friend
Grade 1-2= One same gender best friend
Grade 3-5= Two same gender best friends
Grade 6-Current= I seem to be more friendly with the girls here. I don't know why, i just feel more comfortable around my friends that are girls, but i don't really have a best friend

Oh ya! I agree with Sam! I wish i had someone like Jo (:

I don't really have a "best" friend, but best friend is a girl. I'm kind of a loner though, so I don't really hang out with anyone.

I have two best friends. Both are male, and I don't know, they're great guys, but I don't really altogether trust them... Saying that, I'm not sure I'd really want to call them "best friends", more like "really good friends". The only true best friend I've ever had moved away in 6th grade and I lost contact with him a little over a year ago... :/

Well, I have a few people I would call my best friends, one of which is a guy, two of which are girls.

I have a best friend. Well two, I guess.

One is a guy. His name is Logan, and we have known each other for 12 years. I don't think that I am considered his best friend, but he is definitely mine. I talk to him about everything. He doesn't judge, and he's so cool about everything.

My other best friend is a girl. Her name is Lindsey. I don't know what's going on lately, but we haven't talked. She's super funny, and we always do fun stuff together. She is kind of annoying sometimes. She has really stupid questions that she makes me answer. She already knows the answer to them though.

I have a few, they all hate eachother so it's kind of funny.

Sarah, we basically live together except we sleep in diffrent houses.

Cecily, I haven't seen her in a while because she just moved back from California after moving down there last year, but I can't wait to see her :D

Timmy, my gay best friend.

Nothing wrong with having a best friend that isn't the same sex.
It's very common.

i have a couple, but i don't use names.. and none of them are friends, they don't really care for each other they all hang in diffrent groups and don't have the same interest and whatever.l 3 girls 1 boy. i think it's weirder for same sex best friends, i don't know i always tell #4 something before i want to tell the others, and i'm more comfortable around him.

1) female, we are like the same exact person, we will swear our brain is filled with testosterone, we listen to the same music, read, party, she is just amazing.
2) female, hahaha we are just crazy, and always do really stupid things and we just talk about boys and things like that
3) female, she's my best friend solely because i'm hers, she got me into drugs and we only get along when we are high, but we hang out a lot. wierd.
4) male, i can tell him EVERYTHING, and he knows basically everything about me and we always have fun and he can always make me laugh

My best friend is a girl, and I'm not worried about it. She's been my best friend for ages, ever since I moved to MA, I couldnt speak english at all and she helped me all the time. Plus she knew what it was like to be made fun of because of race, cause she is from Japan.
