Last few days, I've gotten all of about 1-2 hours of sleep per night. Then, during the day I work with kids ranging from 1st-6th grade. That will take all the energy out of ya when you throw in the heat of being outside as well.

Anyways, I try to go to sleep, but can't seem to.

Last few nights, I've gone to bed at around 12:30, but I don't actually get to sleep untill about 4:45ish. Today (last night) I actually got to sleep, but then woke up at about three. I then got back to sleep for thirty minutes, but have been up since.

Now I have to run to work and deal with those kids again.

It's going to be a long day....

Anyways, any tips on trying to get to sleep, and staying asleep.

I won't take sleeping pills, nor go to the doctor about it. ;) I know, I'm stubborn.

I had the same problem (no kids). Go see your GP. They can prescribe some sleeping pills. They work wonders.

It would be good to try to figure out why you're not able to sleep.

The usual suspects: Too much caffeine (soda), too wound up.

Try relaxing before bedtime, music, reading, non stimulating things, maybe a cool shower. Wind down. Stay away from soda, the sugar and caffeine will do it, too, maybe you're drinking more b/c it's hot outside.

In the end though, when your body is tired, it will sleep. Sometimes, you just need to wait until whatever is causing the sleeplessness to pass.

I don't think you need pills, and its obvious why you can't sleep. the kids are making you run on way more energy then ya need

do lay off the soda

but to sleep, you need to do this thing called RELAX. whatever you find relaxing. most people find reading helpful, but if you don't like reading, anything else thats calm.
also, music..for most anyway, it helps me out a bunch
