View Full Version : Using Tampons

This is embarassing. I'm scared to use tampons. My mom bought some because I was interested in trying them out, but now I can't. I'm just like, scared to stick something in 'there', I guess at the fear of it hurting, or not being able to get it out...? She got the ones with applicators or whatever so maybe it'd be easier for me but I still can't bring myself to do it.
Grrrrr. Humiliating.

maybe you should lay in front of a mirror and stretch your labia minora open. you will get a better idea of how big your vaginal opening is. place the cotton part inside, and try to see if you can slide it in without pain. the vaginal opening is made to stretch like a rubber band in a way. you shouldn't be afraid of not being able to get it out. if you can get it in, you should be able to get it out easily. you can't get a tampon lost inside of you.

im having the same problem...i dont know if ur suposed to insert tampons laying down, so what im planning on doing is to wait till my period is over, then (pardon me if this sounds weird...) in front of a mirror..examine my vag and just get to know where EXACTLY im putting a foreign object into and how big the hole is, ect.

[To the OP]:
Well hun, if you're afraid of using tampons for fear of it hurting due to you not being big enough, then maybe you should get a hand mirror and just look at yourself, get to know what it looks like and how big the opening is, etc...
REMEMBER:
You don't have to start using tampons, I know you're curious but if you're worried you're gonna be more tense while trying them; making it harder to use insert, and therefore you may find it hurts a bit more.. So, is it worth it? Sooner or later you're gonna be more aware of your body and you're less likely to worry about it anyway.
PLUS:
When you come to the time when you feel emotionally and physically ready (and your special partner feels the same) to have sex (and do) you won't be worrying about your size then, will you? Your vaginal opening will become less tight, so using tampons will be more comfortable.
TO CONCLUDE:
Best thing for now is to just put 'em aside and try 'em out when you're next on you're period AND in a relatively good mood (you'll be more relaxed which tends to help a lot).

Well Laura, you basically stole the words out of my head.
Also, it's going to be a LITTLE bit uncomfortable putting them in. Not hurt, but uncomfortable, like pressure sort of. Just relax, and take a deep breath before you try. Once it is in it won't hurt at all, you won't even feel it.
lola1234, you NEVER insert tampons when you aren't on your period.
That increases the risk of TSS right?

well a good position to put in a tampon is if you have a bath tub then put one foot on the ledge and insert the tampon. also it may hurt a little bit the first time because off your hymen if it hasnt broken yet. there is almost no chance that you could loose the tampon in there either, and if you did you most likely could just reech up and pull it out.

you shouldnt be scared its very easy just look at the box for directions or ask your mom to show u how u slide it in but dont tell her to demonstrate it just tell her to show you with her hands and dont worry about the tampon of no return its attached to a string but if the string falls off use your grabbing fingers and take it out but remember to change it or it can cause bacteria problems u dont want!

Brie.Baby - 0_0 If I was a girl I would have freaked *or got it out myself somehow*
xdisenchantedx - It's really not to be worried about. Like lola said. Try seeing how far it will stretch to get a better understanding of yourself. As soon as you get it in, you could take it out again, to sorta learn how to do it properly. Soon you wont even know its there.

when i first used a tampon i found them uncomfortable, it didnt hurt but i was'nt comfy with it in.
tbh i didnt try agian till after i had sex, and then it was fine. But yeah i do think you should examine yourself down there, so you know what your doing.
and the find that even crouching with your legs open, or like someone else said, putting on foot on the bath edge is a good way to get them in.
and dont worry they wont get stuck :) as long as the strings there you will be able to pull it out again!
and if your tense it will be more difficuilt.
give it a try sweet :)
