what i dont get is if we are biologically supposed to have sex to produce offspring why are some people sexual sadists or have fetishes. Is there something wrong with the brain, maybe just something went wrong when you are developing or maybe it has to do with personality traits. This has bothered me for a while.

not eveyone thinks it's right. some people will feel like they have been violated or ruined, if they don't have their virginity anymore. i'm one of those people. i feel like intercourse would take my soul away.

Nothing goes wrong in developing if someone has a fetish. A fetish is something that people use to become sexualy aroused.

i know what a fetish is but most fetishes arent exactly normal sexuality, im just wondering if we are supposed to have sex to create offspring then why do some people have fetishes(wierd ones) or are sadists?

What is it with fetishes today? This is, like, the third one.

First, a fetish is a very strong, overriding 'thing' that is non sexual that is REQUIRED for sexual arousal and performance. It's not just a 'turn on', something someone prefers or likes that adds to the experience, it's really required. With out it, there's no performance, no arousal.

By definition, the fetish is 'abnormal', b/c most people can get aroused and perform basically in the presence of another person, or even alone, with just themselves. It's a biological, intuitive, hard wired thing we have.

There are many theories about what causes fetishes, but basically it's usually the exposure to repeated trauma (really bad things) which interferes........no, wait.......stops completely...... normal psychosexual development. Whatever happens is so extreme and so severe that it prevents normal sexual arousal and performance. So, the result is that the indivdual can only perform when those non sexual things are present (this includes fetishes, sadism, masochism, etc.).
