Hey if my IQ is somewere in the 120-130 range, nothing above, nothing below would you consider me to have an above average intelligence. Also i am whole brained , use both sides of my brain, it runs in my family, my aunt is literally a genius, IQ in the low 140s:eek:

Well at my old school you had to be 'Genius' to get into the gifted program, and i got in, so i guess above 140 somewhere.

Average IQ of any given population is 100. However between 90-110 is an average score, and the area in which most people fall under. As you progress higher up less people have that IQ and similiarly if you progress down less people have that IQ.

IQ's don't mean anything in my opinion. Oh my IQ is 175... Who gives a flying f*ck? Go do something and change the world. Arrogance should lower one's IQ by 30-50 points. And greed another 20-40 points. IQ measures potential intelligence [I believe], and thus IQ's can be seriously misleading. I have two cousins [they're brothers]. One has an IQ in the 160's, he's a failure at life. The other has an IQ of 120 something, he is highly successful at the moment. My half-brother has an IQ in the 160s as well, at the moment, he's doing okay, but nothing amazing. My half-sister has an IQ of about 130 something, she is making 7 digits, compared to my brother who is only making about 5 digits at the moment [though he has a bright future]. That homeless man you see when you're walking home could have an IQ of 150 compared to your IQ of 130, but yet you're still more successful. Just remember, IQ doesn't measure success, nor does it measure potential success, it measures potential intelligence, and intelligence isn't everything. Having a low IQ doesn't mean you can't be successful and having a high IQ definitely does not guarantee success. Btw, my IQ is in the 130s-140s.

Somehow I think the tests many people here took are bullshit, as there's a 1% chance for every hundred members of one having an IQ in the 140 area.

I agree with 0=, you've gotta remember einstein had one in the 180s i think and nobody's come anywhere near as intellegent as him as far as I know. Remember 140 is ranked genius, it's not exactly common.

OK, "IQ"='What intelligence tests measure'.

There are a lot of tests out there that claim to measure IQ, but each one defines and measures it a bit differently, so unfortunately, b/c IQ is a moving target, there's not much consistency between them, so we really need to know which IQ test you were given. The 'Gold Standard' is the WISC-IVR, which is an intensive, individually administered test, given by a psychologist. It is considered the most accurate and comprehensive of all the tests, and also the most time consuming (and expensive) so it's doubtful that anyone here got their IQ from that. Rather, you were given a paper and pencil test in a class with a lot of others, and they calculated the IQ from that?

FWIW, on a WISC-IVR, 100 is considered 'Average', it's what about 50% of your age-peers would be expected to get. The 'Standard deviation', the amount of numbers above or below that make a difference, is 10. So, for every 10 points, you'd jump into the next classification. Each jump in either direction means there are fewer age-peers who would score like you, as you move further from 50%.

The highest you could get is 140, and the chances of that are truly rare. The lowest is around 50, also rare.

Most people fall within 90-110, most clustered around 100.
