Well im 13 and sometimes i get extremely pissed at things that arent a big deal. Like today i hit the wall with my shoulder, i ran in to it. Then i threw pens really hard at the wall, all of that just because my computer was freezing. When i get mad at a video game ill hit stuff, throw stuff and yell. Do you think i have anger problems, I think its just genetic because both my parents have nasty tempers.

Then i have another question, whats your favorite music genre, mine is rock/heavy metal, stuff like that. And what is ur favorite song mine is Down With The Sickness by disturbed, think my anger issues related to my music choice.

Yes, it sounds like you have anger issues. I would suggest seeing a school counciler or a psychiatrist to see if you can take an anger management class. Personally, I think your music choice has only a little to do with your temper. Heavy Metal, heavy rock, and anything that has that negative atmosphere probably causes some of your tantrums. Try listening to slow, calm music. Maybe light rock?

Jeeze people need to stop blaming stupid things for problems instead of actually getting to the root of the issue. I bet we've all heard of different stories where music "made" a person do something (i.e. they blamed marilyn manson for columbine, and Judas Priest for a teen that comitted suicide). Music is just a way of externalizing emotions in a more peaceful manner, which can actually be a good thing (hey, it's better than hitting a wall right?

The bottom line is, your anger isn't CAUSED by your music choices. Your music doesn't even make you MORE angry. It's actually the other way around: your ANGER is what motivates your actions (from hitting things to listening to "aggressive" music). To be totally blunt, this notion that MUSIC can actually cause such things is, frankly, bullshit. The media and uninformed adults just need SOMETHING to pin the blame on, so they choose music. That way, they don't have to face the fact that it might be THEIR fault! And if the parents don't produce an environment that is healthy for teens (we have issues... duh we need help :D) they have no right to blame music!

Sorry for the... kinda rant. Anyways music shouldn't be a problem for you. In fact you can use it as a healthy outlet for your anger! I would say, buy a punching bag. I'm serious. Whenever you get angry, just go somewhere alone (garage, basement, whatever) and just BEAT THE CRAP outta that punching bag. It'll do you some good, trust me! :yeah:

QFT! And, Boy, that Canadian guy is sure smart!

Do you have 'anger issues'? Well, everyone gets frustrated, esp. at things like computers and such that sometimes misbehave. Is it an 'issue'? Do you think it is? Does it get in your way? I can see where you're losing your cool with other people can cause some major 'issues'. If it's not there, it sounds like it's well on it's way.

If you're aware that you sometimes don't control your anger as well as you know you should, then you should start controlling it better. You know there are a lot of other things to do when you're frustrated other than throw pens across the room, that should be fairly easy to control.

And, the fact that your folks engage in the same poor behavior doesn't make it right, nor is it an excuse for you to continue. it's hard sometimes to recognize one's own behavior when everyone else seems to be doing the same thing, but that's not your case, as you recognize they're doing it too.

And, the music you listen to doesn't cause your anger, you cause your anger, or perhaps more accurately, you control how you respond to your anger. So, whatever you listen to, and whatever your folks do when they're angry, maybe it's time to respond differently to those feelings, before it becomes a permanent habit and a real 'issue' for you and those you share your life with.

yeah i realize they are times when i should have controlled my temper better than i did, but some days i can have a pretty fair temper and some days when i have an really bad temper, like yesterday(hitting stuff, throwing stuff, etc.) But overall i say that i should work on my temper a little because it can cause me to go out of line sometimes
