Okay, so I'm mad in like with a boy. There's a chance he might be interested, so I'm going to keep hinting and flirting, and eventual I'll be making a move (most likely, as long as I don't pussy out like always). Problem is, I've been told by a few people he has genital herpes. Now, if he does, I have no problem with this, but obviously I need to find out. How do I find out without seeming rude, or sounding like a dick?

Simple really. Well you have to get close, not close enough for sex; but close enough to share things with each other. Then ask him, tell him that you love him but you just want to be safe.

im a very shy guy. I just don't know how I can just pop into "Oh, btw, do you have herpes?"

I am too, and I know it feels to not want to ask someone something. Try this: somehow get onto the subject of STDs, and just be like "you don't have any, right?" or something to that effect.

Don't bring it up unless the relationship gets serious. It's only a problem if you guys get intimite which might not happen considering you don't even know if he's interested in you yet. If things do get serious between you two then by then you should be comfortable enough to sit down and have a serious discussion with him at which point you would need to explain that you just need to be sure that there will be no surprise STDs popping up in a few months and that if he does have anything it won't change the relationship.
