I'm just wondernig why it's only 550 charecters?..i could understand that if it was w/o the bcc code, but including it i'm a little confused

Signatures are meant to be short and to the point. That is why we have that limit.

Click the usercp button on the top right of the page under the virtualteen logo and a drop down box will appear and in that box click "edit signature"

why does the code count in?? just wondering, because especially if you want a link Like This One (http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/showthread.php?p=318458#post318458) it takes up a lot of charectesr

Because even though you can't see BBCode in the users signitures, the code will still count for characters.

Yea i kind of wish it didn't count [it being BBCode] because like Gwyn said, some links and pictures take up a lot of characters. Also as a side note, links take up a lot of lines, so even thought my sig isn't 8 lines [maximum] the BBCode makes it 8 lines so i can't add any more

I think that it's plenty. Signatures being too big is a major problem. It can stretch the post tables and require additional scrolling just for one post. There are 20 posts per page, so this just increases 20 times. I don't think it's fair for guests and other members who want to read content - not signatures.

Just look at my signature. I think that's perfectly fine. It's under 8 lines, it's 497 characters (including the BB code), and it shows a bit about who I am.

I think it should be a little bit longer with the BB code because someone may want a colourful signature and they cant ....If they have colour it will be one ....As my signature is just one colour i want it really colourful...The BB code is so annoying

That may be, but it distracts people from the thread. When I see some long signiture with a bunch of color it distracts me and I forget about the thread.

I agree with Alex that sigs need to be short and to the point. Just like mine. I have my name, VT survivor tribe, and a link to my Cake or Death thread in my diary.

It's probably because the BBCode won't allow you to make a signiture that big. If you're trying to make very big it usually won't do that.

I tried it once and it didn't work.

dezi, when you reach the character limit, your signature can't be any bigger, unless you're referring to font size. ^^^
