I'm pissed right now so I wrote some poetry. number 10 on VT I think:
Once Words Were Safe Enough
Once words were safe enough for me-
Mere sounds to catch an ear-
A way to leap,to soar, to hide, to hint-
A way to give but never quite enough.
The game was mine.
And if I lost, I gained the joy of pain,
And if I won, I gained the words of joy.
Oh damn! can I sompress the sense
Of what I am
Down tight enough to know myself?
And if I can't what will I do
With what I feel?
I know the game has changed
And so have I.
I know Inever can again
Paint pictures on the wall
And cleverly pretend the paint
Is theree by chance.
Those inner thoughts belong to those
Who love me.
And if I'm like a winter wind-
Both blustery and loud-
And chilling to the bone,
Perhaps I help the summer men
To seem much warmer than they are.
