8th poem on VT:
Ode To Hypocrisy
My life is play I live today,
A fellow said to me;
I shall be droll beyond control
And have great fun, you'll see.
You are a fool, a wasteful fool,
I heard a man reply;
Just heed the doom of yonder tomb
For we are sure to die.
The strong duress of somberness
Stung the clown to tears,
He with a sigh began to cry
I know he'll cry for years.
The loss-of-glee-absurdity
Consumed the stoic's fret.
I saw him smile then laugh awhile.
He may be laughing yet.
I ask no laurels for simple morals.
Avoid a creed defection;
Adopt no stand as most do and
Be nothing to perfection.
Comments, good things, bad things, everything, anything, all are appreciated!
