View Full Version : How can I tell?

2 Problems:

1. http://www.freewebs.com/ultimatenothing/personality.htm
would I actually be able to tell? I know I'm dependant ( VERY DEPENDANT) and I get a lot of mood swings (quick to anger, can fly from happy to sad or vice versa) but would I be able to tell if I was what it tells me; half schizo? (sorry if I spelt it wrong). Same for paranoia, would I be able to tell?

2. OCD Question:
I dunno if I DO have it or not, even mild or not, but I'm kinda obsessive I think... For example, on Runescape (http://www.runescape.com/) in my inventory I am ALWAYS organising my items. It might sound silly to you to think of this as obsessive but I never stop. Say I eat some food to heal, I instantly have to shuffle everything around again. It ALWAYS takes this order:
MONEY(Gold>Tokkul>Trading sticks IN THAT ORDER), RUNES(Law>Blood>Death>Chaos>Mind>ELEMENTAL(Combination runes>Air>Fire>Water>Earth)) NON-CONSUMABLES(ARMOUR(Metal>D'Hide>Leather)WEAPONS(Metal>Bows>Staffs)CONSUMABLES(Bones>FOOD(Highest healing first))
I hope that made sense.
I'm also always organising things around me; for example, in school I always have to have my books in the corner of the desk, largest at the bottom, or all spread out in front of me, the one I'm currently using in front of me. When I get home it's always the same thing; Close door>Kitchen>Bag off>Shoes off>Blazer off>Look in cupboards for food>Front room.

I don't know about the second one but I would really appreciate any feedback on either.

Oh my gosh, rule number One is never take an online personality test seriously. Personality is a very complicated thing, and assessing it takes far more than a simple online inventory! Forget it.

Rule number Two is that for something to be a 'Problem' (as in diagnosable) it has to be severe (as in interfere with daily functioning). So, if you're particular about the way you do things, it doesn't mean you have OCD. If you worry about things, it doesn't mean you're 'Paranoid'. People with these things are tortured by them, they are more or less debilitated by them. It stops them cold.

If you're bothered by them, though, maybe there are some things you can do about it. Maybe you can be aware when you're doing whatever it is you're doing, and stop yourself. See what happens when you consciously prevent yourself from doing (or thinking) some of these things that bother you.

Often, we develop 'things' as a matter of habit, we don't even know why we do them, they just become a part of our routine. But, by being aware of that pattern, we can change it, and with it, the feelings that are associated with the thought or action. Try it, see what happens.
