first poem i ever wrote...a while ago. I hate sharing, so here goes:

A Scrap Of Velvet

What is your essence little scrap of velvet,
Useless hermit from a noble race?
once you knew the joy of union
And the sweetness of belonging.
You were part of a pattern of interacting bonds.
Now you lie forsaken on the floor.

Chance wove you tot an edge
And without asking how you needed the clan,
Scissors severed your woven kindered ties.
Now you have time for tears and regrets.
Your busy frieneds about their jobs
Have no concern for either.

Of course, it is hard to grant you value,
But if you see meaning in what you are,
Does it matter what others believe?
Or is your ego tied to that elegant task
Soon to grace a dancing lass?
Your sense of self is yours,
But this you must remember,
You soon will find friends among
Empty cans and broken glass.
Unless rescued by some little girl,
Who needs to rub you on her cheek.

Good comments are nice, but constructive criticism is crucial. :D
