Well I have been smoking cigarettes on and off for about 3 years. I stopped when I started taking athletics seriously for obvious reasons. But for the past 4 months or so I have started smoking and I'm well and truly addicted again. I realy don't want to smoke because I'm one of the top ten athletes in Scotland and Smoking is not going to do me any good. I'm just finding it so hard to stop and I was wondering if anyone had any adivice?

Yeah either try the annoying gum ( which for most is absolute s''t or try the magical plasters )..
Ohh and alot of willpower is a good idea. And rationalizing

well you have to decide what means more to you. smoking or athletics. If athletics is your answer then you must stop. You cannot be a top tier athlete and a smoker.

you could try taking the amount of cigarettes you smoke in a day and try to cut that in half every week. you could also try the gum.
it didn't work for my uncle though. he kept complaining that he couldn't keep it lit:)

bout the gum-I tried it it tastes blegh and makes you bad at badminton (long story) :P:P

thanks I'm coping really well and I have a chest infection right now and in a (strange) way it helps cause I reallly don't want to smoke because my lungs hurt sooo much
I just wish I never started but I did so I just gotta deal with it I guess...

everytime you want a cigarette, just stop, think about your life, what cigarettes do, that if you smoke it, you will just be causing yourself harm and youll still have to quit some other time. and if you smoke cigarettes to relax, youll be much more stressed worrying about quitting than you will be after youre clean. hope that helps.

occupy urself with other things like:
-being with friends
-watching tv/movie
-read a book
etc etc ...................
If you keep smoking you may die

i stoped smoking by chewing gum
