Tampons are more of a hassle to get in however they really are best if you wear thongs etc.

Pads are easier to put on if your wearing pants however they can be noticeable and also they could leak.

this probably isnt the best answer but its what we were told in sex ed when I was 12

Pads may be a hassle during the summer. Swimming, and other activities. If you are active, I would advise you to wear tampons.

Tampons fit inside your vagina, and catches the fluid before it comes out. You can't feel them if they are in correctly, and once you get the hang of it, it doesn't seem like anything different. You are able to swim, and be very active without having to worry.

If you do choose to wear tampons, and your flow is heavy, or actually either way, I would suggest wearing a panty liner, just in case of a leak. Panty Liners are also very helpful if maybe you can't get to a bathroom right when you need to.

It just depends on what's comforatable for you.

Personally I'm a tampon person

- Less messy
- Easy to change
- Compact
- Better for when you're active, especially when swimming.

Try both. See what you like best. If you've never worn tampons before, I suggest buying some pantyliners (small, thin pads) to wear as well. You'll need to learn how often to change them (it varies from girl to girl, depending on your flow and what size absorbency you use) and the liners will keep you from leaking onto your underpants until you figure that out. Also it's good insurance for times when you can't get to a bathroom quick enough.

Other than that, tampons should be no more difficult and no more of a hassle than pads. Personally, I like them because I don't have to feel like I'm on my period the whole time. I can't stand the feel of a bloody pad, makes me feel like I've wet my pants or something, and it's uncomfortable. Since it would be silly to change my pad the moment a drop of blood hits it, I just use tampons. So that's something to consider, too.

Like I said though, try things out. I recommend using Tampax Pearl or Playtex Sport for your first time; the applicators are smooth plastic and the tip is rounded (as opposed to the cardboard applicators which are just cylindrical). The applicators can't be flushed like some cardboard ones can (always check the box though before doing that, some will clog the toilet), and I suppose they're not as good for the environment, but they'll be easier to use until you get used to using them.

Tampons are better when you are active and moving alot.... Also they may cause trouble getting in...Pads should be worn at night time going to bed and less active activities.... Try both to see which is easier to change for you and suits you better

it doesn't matter which you use. a pad and a tampon both work the same. use whatever you're comfortable using.

It all depends on the female herself, which ever she is more comfortable with...

Younger girls commonly find tampons uncomfortable most likely due to their size and unfamiliarity with themselves. Whereas older girls may find sanitary towels annoying because they feel really aware of them.

Personally, I like to wear tampons because I don't have to be conscious of the fact that I am on my period. On my heavier days I also wear a panty-liner to catch any extra drops.

You should probably start with pada for the first 3 months but you should try both afterwards. You should go with whatever is more conferterable for you. It depends on your age too. Younger girls should most likly use pads but, it depends on the girl again. Also on the season. Most likely use pads during Winter or fall and Tampons during Summer and Sping. Good Luck!

What does season have to do with anything?

When I started my period I wore pads for the longest time, even though it seems very gross, I was terriffied of sticking a tampon in me, also there's Toxic Shock Syndrome that I was scared of. Eventually when I tried tampons, it hurt so bad the first couple of time, it still does with certain brands. But now that I use tampons I don't touch pads, ever.
