A Guide To Hormones and Sexuality
Very many people join this site and ask whether they are homosexual or not, and many of the people asking are under 15, and when you are under 15 you are almost definitely not done with puberty.
When you are going through puberty you change so much it is very hard to determine your sexuality. It is completely normal to be afraid of being homosexual or bisexual. But keep in mind that in no way is it bad or shameful to be homosexual or bisexual.
To say you are homosexual or bisexual you must conclude without a doubt you like the same sex more or as much as the opposite sex: physically, emotionally, sexually, and mentally.
Physical
This means you must like the physical features, movement, and body of the same sex.
Emotional
This means you must love the same sex for their emotion and you must be able to have an emotional attachment to the same sex.
Sexual
This means you must like sexual relation with the same sex, and you prefer it to the opposite sex.
Mental
This means you must be able to see yourself in the future in a relationship with the same sex, and that you would enjoy time with them.
Experimenting
There have been many debates and thoughts on whether experimenting with people of the same sex is alright or not. But, most people agree that it is alright to experiment as long as it is safe, doesn't change the friendship, and you feel comfortable doing it. Experimenting with friends can cause a lot of trouble in the friendship, and it can occasionally cause social exclusion. Experimenting with friends can also be very unsafe- if your partner has a STD, or any transmittable disease, it can be very unhealthy to experiment. Make sure when experimenting you use a condom no matter what. Probably most importantly, to experiment you must feel comfortable with it. If you ever feel uncomfortable doing something, stop doing it, and leave.
Here are a few scenarios that are completely normal that you may have or will encounter.

Q: I was at a friends house and we started fooling around, and experimenting, like different types of sex and stuff. Does this make me homosexual?
A: This is in no way an indication you are homosexual. It simply means you are curious about your body and other peoples bodies. When you are curious about something you experiment. Keep in mind though that you should keep safe and keep experimentation to a minimum until you are in a healthy sexual relationship.

Q: Ok, so I have been browsing the puberty forums for a while, and i have been seeing this word a lot... Hormones. I heard that they make you curious about things and that is why I'm having homosexual thoughts and urges. Is this true?
A: Hormones can cause you to act differently. Hormones are raging in you when your going through puberty and they make you have weird thoughts that you have never had before. Even if you had always thought you were perfectly heterosexual, hormones can make you seem less attracted to the opposite sex and more attracted to the same sex. Don't worry, hormones are like a roller coaster. While your going up one way your anticipating and dreading what you find at the top, but then you reach the top, and you go flying down screaming. At the bottom you finally realize that what you just did was necessary and in a way, fun.

Q: I have a girlfriend, and i have always liked the opposite sex, but lately i have been finding some kids my gender at my school attractive, and i have been thinking about them. Sometimes right at orgasm. Does this make me homosexual?
A: This does not make you homosexual. Many people experience feelings for the same sex that are a little bit beyond friendship bonds. This is completely normal, and it is most common between friends because the bond is already great. But, be advised, your friendship can be easily ruined if you take little things the wrong way or if you approach the person.

Q: I am a very religious person. I have read the bible, and it seems that the bible says God hates gay, bi, and lesbian people. Is this true?
A: There is no clear answer to this. As you have probably noticed, there have been many discussion about it on this site. I would advise going to Ramblings of the Wise and look at debates about this and decide what you personally feel is true, because no one can answer this for sure.

Q: I have looked at homosexual (same gender as me also) porn and i liked it. I have gone back and seen it multiple times, and even masturbated to it. Does this make me homosexual?
A: This does not make you homosexual. It may mean that you have a physical or sexual attraction to the same sex, but it does not make you fully homosexual unless you have decided you like them emotionally and mentally as well. It is normal to be curious about the same sex, and about same sex sexual intercourse.

If you have any comments please feel free to PM me. This is mainly for information, so if you have sexuality problem feel free to make a new thread.
This was written by me, so obviously it is open for errors. Please tell me if there are any errors. I tried to make it gender friendly ('homosexual' instead of 'gay' or 'lesbian') but since i am male i automatically wrote gay many times. I may add more to it from time to time, so check back if you need more information. If there is an obvious point i missed, please tell me.
