Windows XP actually doesn't have DOS lol. I know, it sucks. Though it has that Command Prompt to make up for it.

There are some DOS emulators out on the net, so look around and ya might find something that you can use.

actulay it does have DOS, every computer runs on DOS, They call it Command Prompt, but it is DOS, with updated commands and a new name.

XP does have dos, if it didnt it wouldnt work, it is just renamed as command prompt. DOS is stands for Disk Operating System. Its just that microsoft dont make DOS avalible when you load up your startup menu. w******

yeah, I dunno why people thinks XP doesnt have dos...thats what it runs on, and what many people use to install XP.

And there it is... XP does not run on DOS, XP doesn't even have DOS, it has a subsitute we know as Command Prompt, but it does not operate the exact way DOS did. XP's kernel is based off of the NT kernel, which was anything but DOS. Though like stated earlier, XP does provide an "emulator" for DOS, known as Command Prompt. But get it through your heads... COMMAND PROMPT IS NOT DOS! Just want to make that clear :)

XP has dos...why is that so hard to beleive? I had to install XP on a computer at school today, and I was definatley IN dos.

dos is on your computer before you even install an OS, so its always there, you just dont have the restart in dos mode option

well when installing to some of my clients computers, they didnt have their CD-ROM set up as somthing to boot off of, so you have to go to the CD drive through the CD-ROM and run setup, than the screen pops up. It's better to learn how to do it that way so than if your auto play doesnt work, you have somthing to fall back onto...and I can do it through DOS faster than sombody could with their auto play.

Also, you can create partitions in DOS before you install windows. Much more reliable than installing windows and using Partition Magic. but partitions are terrible.

DOS is programmed into your motherboard, if there wasnt DOS, nothing would work correctly.
