An American man has dropped close to 36kg after eating McDonalds almost exclusively during the last six months. On the menu: salads, hamburgers minus the buns, wraps and apple dippers (hold the caramel sauce).
Before he pledged allegiance to the golden arches, Chris Coleson, 42, weighed almost 126kg. He wanted to get back to 83kg, which is how much he weighed before he married his wife 10 years ago. Chris currently tips the scales at around 90kg.
"I didn't make my goal of 185 pounds (83kg), but I've made some great lifestyle choices and I'll make that goal," Chris said in a television interview.
"You know, it's funny... I come from a family that has heart disease. My mother passed away at the age of 62. My father had a heart attack at 39. We looked back at some of our cholesterol results, back through 1993 ... and I had a cholesterol level up around 300 and I was 180 pounds (81kg). I dropped below 240 (108kg) just recently. This is the first time since '93 where I've dropped below 250 (113kg) so, my cholesterol, my triglycerides look pretty good. I'm trending in the right direction."
Chris says when he couldn't slide into a restaurant booth, he decided enough was enough. Now, for the first time in seven years, Chris is able to wear his wedding band.
There are other ways to drop the kilos without cancelling those dinner plans.
