do you know how tall you were when you saw the doctor last year? and about how much has your penis grown since then. im 16 and im only about 5'4 but my penis has grown a good amount since i was 13 so you may be a late bloomer in growth but not in penis growth which isnt such a bad thing lol

Well i've never even thought about measuring my penis until a month ago or so, all i know is that it has grown because my erections never used to be bigger than now as for how much have i grown since then? i'm not sure, i think normal amount for a kid, maybe a few inches.. one comparison i use is my old hockey stick, at the end of 5th grade it was up to my nose, now i'm entering 8th grade and now it's an inch below the bone at the bottom of my neck (feel it urself u have one... it's round)

oh ok so it sounds like you grew a normal amount since 5th grade, maybe a little less than average but its no big deal you still will grow more probably until your 18. as for your penis size, about how much does it measure now because ive seen how mine has grown in relation to how tall ive grown up until now.

There isn't really a height:penis ratio. Doctors don't necessarily know that you'll be a late bloomer. It's just usual for a male to start in the early stages of puberty around the ages of 11-13.

You can also ask your doctor if he can provide you a chart that predicts on how tall you'll be. The chart is made by taking annual height measurements and then organized into a line graph. All I can tell you is that there's nothing to be worried about. Everyone grows are different rates and such. I can't give you any diagnostics, for I'm not a licensed doctor. But I've said all my knowledge obtained from being a 2nd year student nurse. All I can say is eat and live healthy, this can really aid you're body and mind's growth and development.

No, the doctor wasn't really right. The word "late bloomer" is sometimes stretched.

In my opinion, "late bloomer" is a person who starts puberty around 15-17 - that means that they have none or barely and pubic hair, their penis is under average length, and they're kind of short.

Since you're 13, and you already have shown signs of puberty, you aren't a late bloomer. But it might be taking awhile for you to grow. That's normal - everybody grows differently.

Some people grow a wopping 6 to 9 inches in a year. Some may not grow in height except for a half inch. And others (like me) may grow 1/2 to 2 inches each year. And then I might grow 5 inches in a year - puberty is unpredictable like that.

This doctor and probably other doctors look at you and just guess that you're a late bloomer based on your proportions and sizes and hair developed so far. He probably worded his opinion a bit wrong.

Although you haven't developed as fast as other people your age, you have still started puberty, so you're not a late bloomer. You're about in the middle; you're normal. Just because you don't start puberty at 11 or 12 doesn't mean that you're a late bloomer. 11 and 12 is early anyway.

OK, I checked this, so here goes.

The doc took blood b/c there are hormones/chemicals in the blood that are released that regulate growth, and during puberty, an increase in them signals increased growth.

The X Ray (probably of your hand or foot) shows if the cartilage (soft tissue) has begun to close. As you grow, the cartilage hardens, and the spaces there between the joints closes, and appears differently in the X rays. By looking at and measuring the spaces, and comparing your current growth with standards fo guys your age, and taking the height of both your parents into consideration, the doc can make a fairly accurate determination where you are in the growth phase, and how tall you'll ultimately be.

Parents worry a lot about their kids, and just b/c the doc looked into this doesn't mean there's anything 'wrong' with you or your developement. Actually, you sound like things are moving along just fine! Phew!
