There's nothing wrong with wanting to lose weight, but be healthy about it.

I suggest a healthier eating pattern and some excercises that focus on your abs... Such as sits ups :P

I totally understand where you're coming from! It's like one minute I hate myself and go on a 'diet', then I realise I'm loosing too much too fast and go back to 'normal eating' - just to hate my body again.

Gwyn, the issue isn't so much if it's OK to lose the weight, it's why you want to lose it, what's behind it. Only you know that. I'm not sure what you're 'worried' about, that would suggest there's a somewhat dark reason lurking there.

If you look on one of those online Ideal Weight Charts it will provide a guide to what's 'normal' weight for someone of your height and age. I'd think that as long as your weight falls within that range, you're OK.

However, the fact that your mom is 'forcing' you to wear a bathing suit you're not comfortable with, that exposes you in a way that is uncomfortable, is an issue you might want to address with her.

I'm near the top of a weight chart, but still healtyh..i could loose ten pounds and be healthy..

*sigh*, if you go post diving, i have issues with my weight....also read the one just a kid, you'll probably see some of why my mom would make me wear something i hate....she likes being manipulative and drawing attention to my ever-changing weight

I'm sorry I haven't followed up, Gwyn. If I don't, feel free to PM me and bring it to my attention.

Losing 10lbs when you're near the top of the weight chart doesn't concern me as much as your 'Need' to do it. This isn't about ten pounds or being buff, it seems like it's about 'Other stuff'. As long as you lose the weight in conjunction with addressing that 'other stuff', I think it's OK. Otherwise, even 10 lbs lighter, you'll still have that nagging unhappiness in there.

Eat salads and shizzz. You can eat a truck load of salad and it will be healthier than eating slim fast. Do stuff you know you like, like swimming with your friends, that actually loses a lot of weight if you do it a few times a week. Go for a walk, if you live in a neighborhood walk to your friends house instead of driving or having your mom do it. Eat apples for snacks or oranges. Find new stuff to eat like yogurt milkshakes you could have a shit load of fun with this! Maybe if you have an exercise bike move it infront of the tv and exercise while your watching tv, my mom used to make me do that, I'd have to exercise on the bike every 30 minutes so I could watch a show and relax and watch another while working out.

I'm a lean mean stud now, you'll have that body you know you want and feel sooo goood.

i walk everywhere haha. i have to exersize, or i feel really guilty and stuff..
[hence placement in eatingdisorders not vthospital]

i know i should learn to be happy with myself. i mean most people(even girls) stare...and there's something weird that my five y/o brother's clothes fit(i tried it once hehe)......god i wish i could be okay, im only really truly happy if i can exersize every day...

it ued to be worse. i used to not eat unles i knew i could work it off (and i was swimming 2hrs a day!! wkends i rarely ate more than dinner)
