How come my mom and dad are like average height and I am supposed to be 6'1. I am 13 and I am 5'6. I am taller than my mom now and my dad is like 5'9-5'10. The tallest person in my family is my cousin who is 6'0. Also I have a deep voice but my dad does not and not really anyone does. The only people in my family recently over 6'0 were my great-grandmas uncles and aunts. Sometimes I get called MR. over the phone or people think I am an adult?

Genetics + environment=height.

Your genes determine your height (along with everything else, ftm). However, although you get those genes from mom and dad, there's your whole family of genes in there, they go way back. Remember dominant and recessive? They combine producing the result you see, so although you might look alot like mom, you can also look like your granfather or uncle.

Also, with advances in technology and nutrition and vitamins, etc., people are taller now, and begin puberty earlier than in previous generations.

So, that's whay you might be a little dif than your folks, from whence you sprang!

My moms 5'4 and my dad just under6' and i am 5'7'' and 14 so just cos your parents are tall doesnt always mean you will be short or tall you could be the same or sometimes even taller than both of them
