I auditioned for a part as one of the Pink Ladies in my next school production (Grease). To get a main part (anything with solo acting, singing or dancing) we had to sing infront of 7 teachers. I can't sing, and I think that may have ruined my chances... Although, I am absolutely fabulous when it comes to acting - and one of the teachers was my drama teacher, which might have saved my chances. I sang better than I thought I would, but I think they could hear my nerves in my throat!
We don't find out who got what part until the end of next week at the earliest. However, suprisingly I'm not nervous about whether I get a part or not but I'm notsure whether I'm ready to be rejected (or possibly even excepted).
I've come to realise that I haven't done a school play since I was 9! So, when was the last time you were in a school production, what was the part and are you going out for a prt any time soon?

I want to be in a musical so bad, I would love to be in a production of Hairspray that would make me extremely happy.

I prefer the technical side of it, I used to do all the stage lighting and help out with the sound equipment. I'm definately not an actor!

Yep, it's a production :P
I did legally blonde for my play this year..
I couldn't image Legally Blonde being a play... Who's idea was that?
I prefer the technical side of it, I used to do all the stage lighting and help out with the sound equipment.
I was s'pose to do that last year... For 'Disco Inferno' - but our school has a system which can be programmed, so I was only gonna be there incase it failed... So I didn't bother at all.

Ya-huh :) I think that more people are most likely to be in school production things when they're younger... I know that my little school MADE everyone* be in it
*Everyone in the two year groups, we were seperated into every two years (e.g. yr 1&2, 3&4, etc)

I HATE acting, I just can't get in front of a bunch of people and not look stupid.

OMG! I didn't think I'd get this frustrated just by waiting to be rejected!
GRRRR....
I've also been informed that the play 'Grease' is nothing like the film, in the way that some of the Pink Lady and T-Bird characters have more important parts than Danny or Sandy. That makes it less likely for me to get a good solo acting yet non solo singing part :(

All I've ever been in where those grade-school plays that everyone has to be a part of. In 4th grade I was just part of the chorus. In 5th grade, I almost landed the role of Benjamin Franklin (it was a colonial play, to go with the history curriculum), which was the only character with an entire song to themselves, no chorus interruptions. But one girl was absent the day of auditions and our teacher gave her a second chance. She'd been taking voice lessons since she was like, 5, so she beat me out for the part. I ended up being Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, and I had like 3 lines talking with Sybil Luddington about how I couldn't write a poem about her because her name didn't rhyme with anything.

I can't sing to save my life, so I've never been in a production at our Jr/Sr high.
Last year, it was Aida, which I had no interest in, but this year it was Footloose. I would have loved to be in that, but we have REALLY good singers in our school. Plus with sports I wouldn't have been able to make practices.
I'm bad at singing, but I am a REALLY good actress. At a local mall they were having a casting calls for a few things, one was a play, and one was a TV show. I tried out for the play, kind of as a joke, and they called me the next day. I couldn't end up doing it, but they said I was their first choice. =]

I've been told I should audition for school plays by multiple people... Various English teachers, my creative writing teacher, random people at my school, my friends, the theater lady at the camp I'm at, etc... But I'm just too lazy to be in a play... I'm really good in front of people [despite the fact that I suck at talking to most people one on one], and I'm a really good actor [I'm also really good at improv]... I can speak in all sorts of voices, I can memorize lines easily, I'm really good at acting in general, etc... But yeah, I just A) don't want to make a fool of myself on stage and B) am too lazy to do it.. Though I promised my mom I would audition for a school play next year.. So who knows?...

Last school production I was in was back in 2006 ... my school did High School Musical.
Bunch of the girls I was friends with decided to audition one lunch time, so as a joke I decided to go along with them. Long story short, I somehow ended up with the role of Sharpay Evans, had to wear a blonde wig, ridiculous costumes and act like a total bitch in front of a lot of people. Embarassing as hell.

But as long as you tried you should be fine.
Have fun at callbacks :D

I like watching school productions, but they take up way too much time for me to be a part of and a lot of people in drama are SO full of themselves that I just decide to stay away from that stuff. Improv is were itz AT

I agree. Some people in drama are VERY stuck up and not understanding and just downright mean. I had the worst time when we did Phantom here. I had no friends and I was picked on :(
