Bad boys get more sex: study

Bad boys really do get the girls, according to new research.

This week's New Scientist says two studies in the US have found that men with antisocial personality traits are more likely to have a prolific sex life.

The so-called `dark triad' traits include impulsiveness, narcissism, thrill-seeking and deceitfulness, it said.

One of the studies, a survey of 35,000 people in 57 countries, found a clear link between dark triad traits and the reproductive success of males.

"It is universal across cultures for high dark triad scorers to be more active in short-term mating," David Schmitt, of Bradley University in the United States, told the New Scientist.

"They are more likely to try and poach other people's partners for a brief affair."

Another study found that males who scored higher in the dark triad personality traits had a greater number of partners and a desire for short relationships.

You would think that after a few times of having sex and being with these "bad boy" that the boys might become a bit pushy towards the girls and the girls would leave.

That's what I thought. Guess I was wrong.

And what does being antisocial have to do with being bad?

Not all "bad boys" are antisocial, and not all antisocial [guys] are "bad boys" either.

I think part of the reason "bad" boys get the girls, is because girls are narcissistic themselves. They see this guy who doesn't seem to care about anyone but themselves, and they start to think one of the worst things that ever pops into a girl's head: "What if I could be the one to change him?" It becomes a challenge, to take this guy who never has long-term relationships, who seems to date only for his own selfish reasons, and make him care. Girls flatter themselves into thinking that they could be the one girl this guy ever cares about, not realizing that it has nothing to do with the girls he's dated and it's merely his personality.

There's also something attractive about someone who's different and unpredictable. I know my mom, back in the day, dumped my dad (Mr. Predictable) to start dating a "bad boy". But, then she and my dad got back together and later got married. However, it still proves that bad boys can be attractive even if it's not what you ultimately want in a relationship.

And what does being antisocial have to do with being bad?

Not all "bad boys" are antisocial, and not all antisocial [guys] are "bad boys" either.

I think being antisocial was just a common trait among so-called "bad boys", not necessarily something that applies to all of them and to no one else.

Very true :) Everyone wants to escape from reality whether they show it or not. Thats why we made games and movies.
