Well, it seems so.
Firefox 3 , one of the most anticipated software releases is going to be finally released.

After an extensive beta program and two release candidates (or three, if you use a Mac), the final version of Firefox 3 is now officially set for release. The Firefox developers insisted they would only release it "when it's ready," and now the word is that it will be ready at last on Tuesday, June 17.
Expect this release to go off with a bang. Firefox developers and fans are eagerly anticipating the new browser, and they've already cooked up a number of ways to celebrate.

The Firefox team wants to set a new Guinness World Record for the most software downloaded on a single day.

I have downloaded that. It was buggy and it was crashing quite often. So today I downloaded the old version in hopes that it will downgrade back to 2.0 Instead now Firefox doesn't work AT ALL. Whenever I launch it it fails immediately. What did I do wrong?

Try uninstalling, run a program called crap cleaner, and reinstall.

If that doesn't work, Try Firefox's Safe Mode. You might also try running "firefox -profilemanager" (without quotes) from the run dialog. Hit the Windows Key, then R together, and type that in there, and hit "OK." It should bring up a screen that lists the Firefox Profiles. Try making a new profile, and running that one. If it works, there's something in your current profile that is conflicting with it. Make sure you uncheck the "don't ask at startup" tick box, or it won't ask you which to start.

Downloading it today doesn't mean you will have to install it :P
Let's support the open source movement, and download FF3 today. Hopefully it could have enough downloads to enter the guinness records

The Final is out. As of 20 minutes ago.
The official site seems to be dead, with all the downloads, but here it is anyway:
http://www.getfirefox.com
If you can't get to that, here's a Mirror of the English version:

An hour? That's some dedication. :P
I tried a few sites, and they didn't work.
mozilla.org
spreadfirefox.com
mozilla.com didn't work at first. I got the landing page later. The download link sent me to an unavailable screen. A reload got the download going, and it probably took me no more than 3 minutes... way under an hour. :P

The link I provided direct to the EXE file above should have worked just fine. It's not on the main Mozilla Servers.

Kind of slow? No. It's ridiculously faster than any previous version of Firefox, and it beats pretty much if not any other browser out there in speed now.
It may not beat every one in initial start up time, but it's so marginal that it doesn't matter. It loads pages a lot faster than the others.
If it's really slow, then there's probably something wrong with something on your computer.

You don't need an installer for FF for Linux. And, you don't compile it. It's precompiled. You simply download the file From Mozilla, and extract it to a location, then run the firefox.sh (I believe) file, and when it pops up something, you just hit "Run" (I believe), and you should be set. You can use it that way until they officially have it in their repos.
EDIT: I just checked the Ubuntu (Hardy) Repos, and it looks like the final for FF3 is in there. Make sure you update your repos, and check for updates again.

I'm not gonna bother updating to version 3 since I'll be reverting back to Opera. But I'll still use FireFox but more to a minimum.

Why?
Version 3 is a lot better than 2.
Last I checked, it beats Opera in speed as well.

The current computer I have needs to be replaced so no point in updating now. And I don't really wanna install FireFox on my mac. I'll just wait 2 weeks from now, once I get my new computer. Then I'll install FF3 on it. FF is more user friendly and the UI is user customized which I really like =P
