You will need a program called PowerISO (http://www.poweriso.com/download.htm). It will burn a bootable CD/DVD for you. ..... Pretty much it. :p

No problem.

Oh and BTW, it'll ask you for registration, just say continue unregistered. There are no restrictions, it'll just have that window pop up every time.

You stick it in your cd drive and reboot :)

Make sure you set the boot order properly in the BIOS. The optical drive needs to be first.

I don't know anything about PowerISO, but if you just drag an ISO onto a CD, or put it on like a normal file, it won't work. You have to specifically tell it that you want to burn a CD Image, ISO, etc.

It's also 100% free, unlike PowerISO.

Just to throw it out there, this is the best ISO Burner I've found. It also lets you create them, and burn regular CDs:

Yep. I always used ImgBurn prior to buying Nero.

okay: making it bootable.

Somewhere on your startup screen you'll see something like "f8 = boot menu". Well mash whatever button it says until another menu comes up with a list of options. find the boot from live CD (or similar) option. Then follow the on-disk instructions.

Oh. What distro of linux do you have? (better be ubuntu *shakes threatening fist*)

Did you change the boot order and the other disc didn't work?

I didn't mess with the boot order i just burned it and assumed it would load from start up like it does for my comp.

So you're saying the boot order is already correct and the disc didn't work?

I really don't know what the boot order is.
I downloaded imgburn so all I do is write image file to disc?

Yes. You might as well do data verification as well.

It works but now for some reason I can't install linux because it keeps saying something about the RAM size but it is the correct RAM size.

What exactly does it say? And how much RAM do you have?
