I have been partially diagnosed with Schizophrenia and fully diagnosed with Bi-polar since I was 15.

I am currently taking meds to control both. I want to know if I am at the age to stop taking these medications.

I feel that they aren't really helping me. Because I myself don't feel I have any of those disorders. I mean, we all get depressed and upset and worry a lot but I don't think a pill is going to help me.

I would talk it over with your doctor first,
And the both of you make a decision together.
I'm sure your doctor will have your best interest in heart.
Bipolar is the most often misdiagnosed mental disorder,
So you may well not have it at all.
As for the schizophrenia,
I'd just keep an eye on it if you do choose to go off of meds.

Fezzie, I agree that you need to talk with your doctor about the meds, but also about the diagnosis. Ask him how it was determined that you had these conditions, and why you're still taking the meds. And what he thinks they're doing for you.

You're the patient here, and eventhough you're a minor, that doesn't mean that you shouldn't get an explanation of what you've got, what the treatment is (and why) and what the prognosis is. And, periodically, it's a good idea to get an update on those things.

Until you do, eventhough you might have legit questions and doubts, don't stop taking the meds yourself, speak to the doc first.
