It's most likely a 'phase' that you're going through where hormones make you have unwanted thoughts. Do do everything you can to keep your mind of those sort of things, and remember, don't even think about looking at that sort of stuff on the net because you can get in serious trouble for it. These thoughts should go away after some time once you are more mature and are able to control your hormones and what you think about.

This post got the IAMSAM alert, a few people seem concerned about it and brought it to my attention, so i'll jump on it now, the rest will have to wait (sorry).

First, how old are you? If you're just beginning puberty (12, 13), then often 'attraction' = 'familiarity', with all the newness (and intensity) of puberty, it' a bit overwhelming. So, with most things new and overwhelming, we often find comfort with the familiar. You were once 8 or 9, that's known to you, you remember it, it's comfortable. Viola!

If you're older, your attraction and arousal by younger kids could either be some form of the above, perhaps there's something really uncomfortable (still) about the whole puberty thing, OR (and hold on here) you were sexually abused yourself at that age, and the awakening of those sexual feelings from puberty brings with it this arousal. Many people who are attracted to children are victims of sexual abuse themselves(which takes many forms from fondling and touching to sex).

Think about what's going on here and determine why you're feeling what you are, and until then keep all this in your head, do NOT act on it. And, it's always a good idea to talk with a trusted adult about it, they can help sort it out with you.

P.S. although using 'LMAO' might break some of the anxiety for you, it can be misleading to those who don't know you. People tend to respond better to directness, even when the subject matter is delicate and uncomfortable.

I think there is something wrong here, but Sam's explanation is very good. If you are young, it just could be familiar and you'll get over these feelings, but if you're older, something is seriously wrong. Nothing can stop you from thinking about it, but looking at kiddie porn is illegal.Thinking about it isn't harmful, but if you act on it, it's extremely wrong and illegal. If you ever think about acting on this urge, get help IMMEDIATELY. So you don't do anything wrong and illegal.

Pedophilia is a mental illness. If you are older, I'd say 16+, I would get help right away. If not, you should just wait it out and think before you act. If the attraction starts to fade away, then everything should be fine, but if the attraction remains, or even grows stronger, you should definitely seek help, ASAP.

Also, I disagree slightly with the post you made. Paedofilia is defined as: Any sexual urges with a child or pre pubescant being under the age of 13 that lasts for longer than 6 months. The child / children should be AT LEAST 5 years younger than the perpetrator, and the perpetrator should be OVER the age of 16.

If these thoughts are new, then you probably don't have alot to worry about. But if they have been going on for longer than 6 months, thats when alarm bells should start to ring. I sent you another private message with my advice, so I won't reinstate it all here.

It could still be pedophilia in its "earlier stages", and again, we don't know his age. He could be 18, and attracted to 8 year olds, which could mean he could have pedophilia. There is another term for someone under the age of 18 [or 16, I don't recall] who is attracted to much younger children, but I don't remember what it is.

Tourrettes, ADHD, and ADD are mental illnesses.

I remember one time I was attracted to children and I got a boner over it. Then what happened? I got over it.

Sam has a valid point. Technically it is a mental illness (psychological disorder; check a list of mental illnesses) and like I said earlier, it is known as paedofilia IF:
1) The subject is 5 years or more younger
2) The perpetrator is over the age of 16
3) The child is pre pubescent, or under the age of 13
4) The sexual urges last for more than 6 months

If one or all of these are the case, THATS when you need to seek help. Psychiatrists, counsellors, etc - you aren't breaking any laws by doing this, if you tell the specialist you are thinking of doing something, they can't do anything. If you tell them you HAVE done something, they can contact the police.
