A fire has forced the evacuation of 2UE. Fire crews have rushed to Sydney radio station 2UE which announced on air its building was filling with smoke.
Guest presenter Don Burke announced just before 3pm (AEST) that staff had to evacuate the station on Sydney's north shore due to "smoke billowing" through the building.
A NSW Fire Brigades spokesman said a fire was burning in a lower level of the St Leonards building.
"Our guys are just on scene, apparently there is a small fire in a bottom floor, rear room," a Fire Brigade media spokesman told AAP.
Before leaving his microphone, Burke told listeners the Fairfax Radio Network station would be playing music until the all-clear was given to return to the station.
Instead of the 3pm news bulletin, the station played the seven-minute version of the song Macarthur Park.
Afternoon presenter John Stanley returned to air just after 3.10pm.
He said the smoke was from a fire at an electrical shop below the radio station on The Pacific Highway.
