Hey, I just wanted to make this thread to hear about some of the achievements of our more athletic members of VT.

My main 3 sports are: Cricket, Athletics, Soccer.

I played local rep soccer about 4 years ago, then play locally, club grade, for fun now.

In Athletics I have two events: Long Jump and 100M. I broke the school opens record in Long Jump, jumping 7m 11cm. And ran the 100M in 11.33s seconds. I'm useless at anything else.

Cricket: I played cricket for my State, NSW, in the Under 17s and now U19s divisions, and am touring England soon to play County Grade Cricket over there. Should be fun.

I didnt mean to make a brag out of this post, I could post the hundreds of sports I am physically disabled at, but that defeats the purpose.

Anyone else got any cool sporting achievements? I / We would love to hear about them!

wow, you must be really good to be playing for nsw in cricket. so are we likely to see you play for the blues sometime in a pura cup or in a odd match? that would be awesome. are you a batter or bowler? and county cricket in england. that has to be a great acheivement for you. are you from sydney too, or from somewhere else? oh, and nice sig about the kangaroo pouch, i was born in a hospital myself lol!

Haha thanks alot man, yeah you would be surprised at the amount of Americans I play on Xbox Live and such who believe me when I say I was born in a Kangaroos pouch.

Its like asking them when September 11 was ... "Ugh, August 16th I think?"

Oh wow I got sidetracked.

Ahh I doubt you'll see me playing for the blues :( A friend of mine has snuck into the side, named Phil Hughes. I grew up with Phil, he was always the batsman, I was the bowler. I'm an opening bowler too, hope that answers that question =] Further down the order I am batting, the happier I am generally!

And nah I'm from Byron Bay, up on the Far North Coast. You heard of it? It doesn't have a great reputation, and its sporting rep is bad, other than for surfing.

Anywho bro have a good one, thanks for the reply!

Achievement: nothing really, I'm not all that good, but I really like to play. Our varsity golf team made it to state and got 9th overall. After we were tied for 3rd on the first day, then everyone fucked up the second day. The scores were 78-78, 80-100, 82-95, 83-89, 94-84, and 93-93. Like I said, I suck, but I really like it.

Ah. I wasn't very fast at the start of the school year because all I did during the summer was swim a mile a day. I ran cross country and that built some good base mileage up, then I really worked it during track. There are some basketball players than run cross country in the fall to get in shape, maybe you should try that.

A mile a day is a fair swim...

To build cardiovascular fitness you need to train AT LEAST 3-4 times a week, for periods of AT LEAST 20 minutes in duration, at AT LEAST 65% Maximum Heart Rate (85% Maximum; that is your Aerobic threshold).

Sport: Baseball

Achievements: I haven't played baseball in 2-3 years, but back when I was young (I mean like 10 or 11) I closed 7-8 games and never blew a save (in little league). I also have like 2 career walk-off hits lol... My most exciting moment was in my last game of little league, when I had the opportunity to close out the game in the 6th inning. We were up by one, I struck out the first batter. Second batter hit a single to right. Third batter struck out. Fourth batter walked. Fifth batter hit a ground ball single in between short and third. Sixth batter walked up to the plate with 2 outs and the bases loaded, down by one. First pitch, strike. Second pitch, ball. Third pitch, ball. Count 2-1. Fourth pitch strike. Fifth pitch, ball. Count full [3-2]. Last pitch goes high [I mean way high], it's a terrible pitch, but the batter swings and misses, the catcher manages to some how grab the ball, and, game over. The most exciting part was that all 3 outs were strike outs on my part.

It's probably a lot more fun than my summer training. Coach said for varsity to do 30-45 miles a week. I used to be in Trad Am Karate, but it bored me after a while.

I'd rather stay at my 1 boring discipline.. ONCE THIS BLOODY KNEE GETS BETTER AGH!

But yeah.. I had no problem just doing one thing.. Neither does my uncle I use to tease him with my other uncle saying that the boxing bag is his wife..

But myself.. I pretty much suck at everything. I was good at everything when I was little. I was great at swimming my coach who use to be some sort of a national champion wanted me to compete... but I'm not very competitive so I refused xD..

But yeah I love swimming.. I can spend my entire day in the water hehe.. And I remember I was good at running for some strange period.. But that didn't last long my knees started hurting too bad at some stage so I stopped everything. Including soccer which I'd play with my friends from 8 AM to midnight.

But yeah since I don't like competing I can't really brag unlike some of you xD

I play soccer (football to some of you), basketball, and softball. This year in soccer I got the sportsmanship award. Our school soccer team sucks, and we haven't won a single game in 13 seasons. We are not very good at all. Neither am I for that matter. Basketball I got the Most Coachable Award. And softball I got the most improved award. I didn't really think I had improved that much, but I guess I did now thinking about it. In the beginning of the season, and end of last year, I was okay, not great though. I was batting 7th or 8th in the lineup, and playing right field mostly. Now I bat usally 2nd or 5th, and playing second base. I started every game this year. =]

Wow, I can't believe I've never seen this.

My basketball team has basically been in first place and won our local division for the last 4 years. Football we've done the same for 2 years, and came in second in the other years.
