Checking for puberty?

Hi im 13 and my friends are too, Every 6 months they go to the doctor and when i ask them why they say the doc is checking for signs of puberty. Keep in mind they have not started yet i have and im on stage 3-4 on that chart that they have on puberty 101. Why do they even have to get checked for sings of puberty isnt it just a natural thing that happens? And why do i not have to get checked?:confused:

Hmmm....it would be unusual to go to the doc just to check for signs of puberty, unless there's some reason the doc suspects there's some problem there. So, either your friend has some problem and the doc is following it, or he's not telling you the real reason. Either way, I'd respect your friend's privacy and just leave it alone, I'm sure he has some feelings about it and you shouldn't probe too much.

That makes sense and i know him well and hes not afraid to talk about it but he seems unusauly uhhh how do i say, it to undeveleped for his age but i dont think he knows its unormal but i dont probe him though. Thanks for the answer though because i wasnt sure if i should be going or not:yes:

Umm well. First off you HAVE started puberty. If you are 3 or 4 on the chart then you are in puberty. I didn't kno w if you were confused about that or not. Also, when your friends go to the doctor they are getting physicals. That is for the doctor to see if your body is in good condition. During that phyiscal they will usually check your testicles for hernias and feel down in that area a little more. They don't talk about puberty to you, unless you do first of course. I also saw on my sheet that there is an option for the doctor to fill out the Tanners stage but I have never seen a doctor do that because it is optional.

It is strange why they go to the doc, i would of thought they might of been told to stop coming. YOU don't need to worry though, as the others have said. Maybe you should tell them about VT?

to of my friends do but hhe other is at the stage of puberty i am

The one that has entered puberty said hell check it out and the one that is very undeveleped says its perverted lol
