I want to loose weight but its so hard when u have a mom who is irresponcible and doesnt offer you healthy food choices i want to eat good nutritious foods but they arent in my house....theres no food in my house. So in order to loose weignt i have resorted to unhealthy meashures. I dont want to hear how bad it is to use such mrashures i know that...i want to know how i can go about this in a home where take out is inevitable almost nightly. ive talked to my mom about this, eventhretend to stop eating untill she goes gracery shopping but she refizes and laughs saying no u wont.
i weight approx 145lbs
my goal 125

One very important thing about losing weight is exercise.
You can eat all the healthy food that you want to, but if you sit down right afterward, you won't get anywhere with it.
^^^^^ - Bingo. I lost a bit of weight just by switching ALL of my drinks to water (and I would still eat tonnes of junk food, without excercise)... So, if you excercise AND replace all drinks with water you could easily drop a few pounds - maybe not the amount you want to lose, but you could try eating smaller portions of whatever it is that you are eating and tell your mum that just because she's into takeaways it doesn't mean that you are. Try to persuade her to get just a few healthier things a week - you may wanna print out a couple of pages from the Net, explaining the benefits of healthy eating.

Just wondering, Lance, how tall are you? Because 145 really isn't heavy. If you really want to lose weight, drink more water, exercise, umm... try to get your parents to get healthy food. I don't see why they won't do that.

printing pages off the internet exlaining the benifits of eating healthy will do no good because
-she is a nuse and knows
-she wont read them anyways
oh and i am 5'7"

You're 5'7" and you want to weigh 125. No offense, Lance, but 145 is NOT EVEN CLOSE to being overweight. Most people that I know who are around 5'7" weigh about 150-160 or more and I think they are really skinny. What I think you should do is not worry about losing weight, but focus more on building muscle. That way you will be healthy. Just keep trying to get it out of your head that you are fat, because you aren't even close.

You need to tell your parents that you are not going to die young because of what they feed you. If they dont listen just eat what they give you but do a lot of exercise. And if its really bad food do a ton of exercise.

Lance, we've discussed this so called weight issue before, i'm sorry you're still so bothered by it, but I'm sorta glad there are others here who see this as I do. You are NOT overweight.
I think you would do well to really try to figure out for yourself exactly what it is about you, or your body, that you're so uncomfortable with. It's not necessarily your weight, that might be the easy thing to focus on. Try to figure out what you're so dissatisfied with, what makes you so unhappy that you cannot control, and maybe by doing that you'll be able to address what's really going on.
In the mean time, it's always good to eat well and exercise. You certainly can avoid yucky junk foods, etc., and even if your mom doesn't buy the food you like, there's nothing stopping you from buying the occaisional piece of fruit yourself. But while you're eating better and exercising, try to figure out the deeper stuff here.

Exactly what Sam said. YOU ARE NOT OVERWEIGHT!!!! Try to figure out what you are so upset at your self image about. Just keep trying to get it out of your head that you are fat, because you are NOT.

125 is not an unhealthy weight for me, i did the bmi and it has me at near the top end of healthy and 125 is well within the healthy range. i am making a change, i am trying to figure out a healthy approch to weight loss. When i look at my body weight is the only thing i see that i am not satisfied with. I want to be skinny not just average.

I think you should lift weights and build muscle. Doing that, you will get skinny, but you won't necessarily lose weight. Don't focus on a number so much. You can be 150 pounds and be all muscle and you will still look skinny, or you can be 125 pounds and not have any muscle and look fat (well not really at 125 pounds, but you get what I mean). It's not all about a number on a scale.

Exercise is one way to lose weight. If you have a allowance you can go buy healthy snacks and so on. Tell your mom that you want to lose weight and ask her (kindly) if she could buy healthy food.

I looked it up and for a person your height and age, a normal weight is 106 to 150. I really think it's sad that 145 pounds is almost considered overweight, because pretty much everyone I know your height is at least 160 pounds and I think they are skinny. But since I found the statistics online that you are following, I guess I will support you. But if you are going to do this, don't go back to your old unhealthy measures. Do some cardio workouts and eat healthy and drink a lot of water. Good luck, Lance.

don't stop eating. you may get weak bones from starving your self. Eat what fruit and veges you can. Starving your self can lead many complicated health issues. you can exercise if you want to lose weight.

Don't stop eating all together, just eat small portions. You need to eat, Lance. You can eat pizza and fast food, just don't eat much of it.
