is it odd that nobody uses my name usually

very VERY few people refer to me by name. usually they ignore me....its to the point where i respond to 'you', or if what you said is directed at me (i'm good at telling if its for me)



is this normal?

My parents don't refer to me by name. Unless my given name is "girl" (its not, ive seen my birth sertificate) that is. Is this consiterd normal?

Maybe it's because it's unusual, people sometimes have more difficulties using things they're unfamiliar with. Maybe you're just sensitive about it, too, so you recognize it more. But it does have character! (just like you).

It depends on your parents, have you annoyed them in any way?
I find it annoying when people say "Oh your...brother" and it's like...no...i have a name to. That's the worst thing when someone relates to you by your bro. I hate it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, thanks for the clarification about this being an issue with your folks. I think in families, things are less formal, people don't use names as much because they're usually looking right at the person when they're speaking, or becaue the other person knows they're being spoken to, and it's just less formal to not use their name. Maybe it's one of the comforts of home, it's more familiar and less formal.

If it really starts to bug you, ask them to call you by Gwyn, but if it doesn't annoy you too much, i would just leave it :)
