I was thinking if there isn't already I think there should be a way to report members sorta the same way you report posts, I know you can always just pm a mod or admin but this way could be a lot faster.

Well can you explain the way?

Sorta like a spammer posting around the boards or a member that has been sending bad things or whatever, you could go there profile see the report member button click it explain what happened and click send. Just like reporting posts.

If this is possible I think this would be a good idea in the future, but remember that if all else fails, you can PM any staff

Isn't that what the report post system is for? You have to have a reason to report someone which is most of the time a bad post so a separate system is redundant.

You could always just go to one of their posts and say as a comment to look at other posts, since the user is out of control

Things don't just happen over posts though what about pm's and even off site stuff or over the age members, or even underage members.

Actually, I think that idea would be good for things like PMs but not just to report users. When you report a post moderators look into the users post. So we will figure it out if they have been spamming so like ant said it owuldnt make sense.

Bad PMs have to be forwarded to any way to an admin so a separate system isn't needed there. You can always report the post of an overage/underage member which a lot of people do already. If they've made no posts send a PM.

This isn't a default feature in vB so the admins would have to do a lot of programming to make it work and its really not that needed with private messaging and post reporting already in place.

This is a great idea Thomas. I would consider this happening.

Staff aren't on 24/7/365 They have things to do that don't involve VT.

It doesn't matter if your report or PM. Generally the only reason reporting is better is because all staff can view them and take necessary action. That is why we encourage you guys to report because it makes it more organized for us in our forums and it is faster. If you need to report a 'member' then simply find a post by them and report it and we will get to it. If they haven't posted before PM a staff that is on and if none are on either PM a Senior or PM a staff that you know will be on soon because most of us come on certain times of day everyday.

of course not. Either way, whether we install a Report Member button or just use the Report Post button or use the PM system, they can't be on here all the time, so there will be some down time. Always.

Also, if you pm one staff member, then another one comes on and pm him/her, the first staff sees nothing wrong with the person. Something like a report where a staff could check it off would help.

You see the Report Post button works wonders. If you had a Report Member button and I came on and saw a member had been reported with say a comment "Offensive", whats my next move? Check their posts. A Report Member button in my opinion would be a bit pointless considering our current set up.
