My...sad... relationship story and question

theres this girl in school that i really like. i mean really. i dream about her and everything... but earlier today i found out that a friend of mine likes her too and that he might ask her to the homecoming dance thats coming soon. i cant let her go. she has the perfect blonde hair that is curled just a tiny bit at the end, and the bluest eyes that shock me from the inside out everytime she looks at me... but ive had a history of realationship problems. my first girlfriend and i broke up because we fought CONSTANTLY. now we're just friends. then there was this girl that i really liked, and she liked me too... but then my friend screwed it all up when my friend asked her to dance with me at one of the dances, even though i had told him not to. i saw them walking over and just froze. then ran. i had to avoid her the whole three hours. at the end i even resorted to desprate acts like hiding behind the dumpster and saying that i went back there to talk to a friend of mine. after that she branded me with the nickname "dumpster kid" because she didn't know my real name yet. anyway, we got to know each other and now we are friends and act like none of it ever happened. i dont want that to happen with carly. any suggestions?

I dont know what else to tell you that hasnt already been said. If you like her, you have to do something about it. You seem to keep focusing on past mistakes and events which are holding you back. Instead of focusing on them, you should learn from them all.
Just because past relationships havent worked out, doesnt mean the next one wont. But you wont know unless you try.

If you really think about it, youre in a win win situation here. If she says yes, you get to go to the dance with her. If she says no, at least you have faced your fears, you have overcome your shyness and insecurities. So what if she says no, you have accomplished something that you would have never done if it wasnt for her right?

UPDATE
at lunch today, i found out the she already had a date to the dance, and it wasn't even with the friend of mine who was going to ask her... and she looked so pretty today too... the glitter on her eyes and everything. it hurt. my heart sunk until my friend was talking to the kid taking her out (ryan). ryan told my friend that he had spent 73 dollars on the dance and then my friend yelled, "you're not even going out with her!" that made me feel better. but, she was sitting with her friends during lunch today (the only time other than science that i see her) and she was yesterday too, helping them sell homecoming beads. i was hoping i'd see her at the pep rally today, but i didn't see her then either... i guess i'm just gonna have to wait till after the dance if i wanna make a move... :cry:

Anyway lol, so the dance is over right? I hope you had a good time! I actually didn't go to the dance, but that will come into the story a little bit later

today i went to a festival, and looked around to see if carly was there (i only do that when i really like someone), and after awhile, i met up with my friend there who had been to the dance. he told me that ryan and carly danced (after that i was glad i hadn't gone), and then i asked him if they were going out. he said yes. i had had a great day until then, and then it just went downhill from there. my stomach started hurting really badly and i was like stumbling around everywhere. the other day, when my friend's girlfriend broke up with him, he said "know i know what it feels like to have a broken heart." i laughed subconciously and didn't believe him, until then. if you don't believe in a broken heart, then you've never had one. anyway, the whole drive home i felt like shit, and then i got here and got online (just a few minutes ago). i was talking to my friend zak (the one who i origanlly thot was going to ask her) he told me that he was only going to ask her out as a plan b, and that made me feel a little better, and then i asked him if ryan and carly were going out, and he said no. so now im really confused. anyway, i told him that i liked carly, and i must have been really obvious about everything cause afterawhile he said, "your really crazy about her, arent you" then he started making this whole plan to invite a bunch of people to the movies including me and her and get us to sit together and stuff. for once he was actually acting like a friend. my stomach still hurts, and i cant focus to study for a big test tomorrow, if i even feel well enough to go to school. anyway, i thot id just make that update.

today i was going to ask ryan if he was going out with carly, but i didnt get a chance during band because my asshole section leader made me take a speaker down to the field. then at lunch me and my friend were messing around, i hit him with a book and he punched me and she laughed....

UPDATE:
I can officially classify this day as one of the worst ones I have ever had. I'll start from the beginning (this does have to do with carly, so bare with me).

I wake up late and almost miss the bus.
I get to school and accidentally leave my agenda and first period folder in the band garage, which is locked. I ask a teacher for the key, and she bitches out and says no (they are still there now, after school).
I am late to my frist period class.
After first period, I got to my locker and realize my id card was stolen. Ryan (the guy who took carly to the dance, pretty ironic, huh?), whos locker is right beside mine said he saw who did it, so I report the kid to the office.
I get to four period and bomb a test.
This is the one I regret the most. I get to fifth period and we have to choose partners to do a science packet. None of my friends are in this class so i have to go with this asshole named DJ, who has no friends. This is actually when I go report that kid for stealing my ID card. when i get back, i find out that two groups had to go together and compare answers. and guess who the hell my group, or rather, dj got paired up with. Carly! i had under two minutes to compare answers with her. thats all. if i hadnt gone to report the kid, i would have had half of the class period to be with her. now remember that, because it comes in later.
I get to math and find out I got a D on the test.
Seventh period I get called down to the office because they found the kid that stole my ID card, and they gave it back to me.
After 8th period, I'm at my locker, and the kid who stole my id card comes over and threats to beat me up because I got him suspended.
Now look at this. If I hadn't reported that kid to the office, I could have been with Carly, and I wouldn't have been threatened to have the crap beaten out of me. Not to mention that the school was on lockdown all day, i have a shitload of homework, and i have band tonight. this day sucked ass. what did i do god?
