-rub an ice cube on your skin instead of cutting it
-drink a glass of water
-call a friend
-take a shower
-go for a walk or a run
-exercise
-watch TV
-play with a pet
-draw, scribble, or color designs on paper
-rip up some paper
-listen to music that will shift your mood
-wear a rubber band around your wrist and snap it against your skin
-draw on the skin with a red pen in the place you might usually cut

man, i dont think any of those things will help people who have serious problems, hence why i voted no

the idea is ok Ark, but you arnt quitting. Your still doing it. Really do the things at the very top and just go cold turkey, thats all you can do!

just think of it as stopping smoking. you dont have less and less fags a day, you just stop!

None of those suggestions ever worked for me. I agree with Punkd, its best to go cold turkey.

My dog has helped me before, she always seems to be there when I'm dep./suicidal.

Well, different things work for different people. I suppose they could work for some people.

Its good that your dog helped :)
