agreed. Re-install your graphics drivers, you should be able to do this through windows update.
If that fails, convert to Nvidia (totally not influencing anything :))

Go into the Add/Remove programs, and uninstall the driver first, then reboot, and try installing the updated driver. By the error message, this driver appears to be the correct one:

What does it do when you try to use that driver I linked you to?
You should be able to validate your copy of Windows unless for whatever reason it's an pirated/illegal copy.

ive looked around the internet and appearently there are alot of people with legal copys of windows that are having issues with validating there copy. although you never know with my uncle. I tryed the driver you linked me to...however when it dowloaded a message poped up saying it could not continue and it stoped.

Hmm... I've never had an issue validating a legitimate copy of XP, nor has anyone I know.
Did you remove the video drivers before you tried to install the "new" ones? If not try that.
If you did, and it didn't work, try these:
Try this for your video card: http://drivers.s3graphics.com/en/download/drivers/legacy/ProSavageDDR_420/S3G_ProSavageDDR_winxp_v139433.exe

I did earlier. :P (Well, not quite as extensively)
Start --> Control Panel --> Add/Remove Programs --> Find the S3 Video Driver (I'm sure it'll be called something similar to that, although might not be exact) --> Click Remove --> Follow On-Screen Steps that come up.
When it's finished, reboot. Then, try to install the first thing I gave you. If that doesn't work, use the second.

I don't know. That sounds odd. I can't find any results for it.
Go into your Device Manager (Start --> Run --> Type "devmgmt.msc" and hit the "+" next to "Display Adapters" and list here what is listed there.
That way, we can know for sure what card you have.
Uninstalling the Driver would just make it look like your screenshot above.

Download this:

And, extract the files. Then, open the file called "UnknownDevices.exe" and when it opens, look for a thing that says "Display Adapters." If you don't see that, hit the "List" menu, and hit "Show" and select "All" then look for it again. Hit the "+" next to it, and then hit the "+" next to the video card shown there. It should list a few things under it, like the Maker of the Video card, then the Full name of the video card.
Also, I'd like to know the Chipset it lists.

Well, reinstalling won't take care of the genuineness part of the install... But may take care of the others.
Either way, you're still going to need to know what video card it is exactly before you can get the correct drivers for it.

I was going to mention that, but it just appears to look at what Windows thinks it's called, and reports that. So, it'd probably just list "jcs's tweaked winXP savage 2000 driver 1.0" like he was saying shows up in the Device Manager.

Bah, I forgot, that site makes temp links, so they go away after a short time.
That's at least the second time I've done that. You'd think I'd have learned by now. :P

All Right. It was RIDICULOUSLY difficult to find drivers for your Video card for XP. I hope they're right, as there pretty much isn't anything else.
Anyway, After about an hour or so of searching, I finally found an "updated" version of that driver you were using, hosted on a site that doesn't exist anymore, and was able to get it through Archive.org.
http://web.archive.org/web/20021223212235/www.hastec.nl/files/graphics/viper/viper_2/jgcdrivers/jgc310.exe
That's version 3.1 of the driver you were using. Yours was version 1.1.
From what I can find, that was the last "stable" release that was released. And, actually, the manufacturer of your card didn't even make Windows XP Drivers, the card is so old. Someone had to modify them for it.
Download it, Open it, and hit "Extract" Then, open the Device Manager by hitting Start --> Run --> Type "devmgmt.msc" and hit enter. Then, go to Unknown, and find the one that says something about display adatper or something. Should have a "!" next to it. Right click on it, and hit properties, then hit "Update Driver" and tell it to look in "C:\jgc310" Hopefully it'll find it, and install it.
The only other possible one I can find that is sort of updated is:
http://www.khufford.com/drivers/Video/Diamond/Viper-II-Z200/ViperII-WXP-v9.21.01g-5.12.01.9016.rar
Same process should apply here, but you'd need to download Winrar, and use it to extract the file, then point the Update Driver thingy to whatever folder you extract the RAR file to.

Just a little bump here... I'm wondering if you got everything sorted out. :)
