i'm just getting this off my chest, there is no particular question here. it was a bad day at school today. one of jo's friends who i have gotten to know better since going out with jo was diagnosed today with cancer. i can't remember the name of the type of cancer it is, but it affects the neck. we knew she went for tests the other day, but it has come as a huge shock for all of us. i mean, how does someone our age get cancer? its just not fair! she is a really nice person and i'm glad i have gotten to know her a bit but why do these horrible things happen to nice people? apparently its very treatable and there is a really good chance of it being cured, but its going to be a long hard road ahead for her. jo and i have already promised to be there for her as much as we can but its hard for us to understand what she is going to be experiencing in the days and months ahead. this is so depressing and i hate it.

Aww, that sucks, I'm so sorry to hear. But tell Jo that lymphoma (depending on the type and strain) is a very treatable form of cancer in young adults/teens, if caught early enough, statsically speaking, your friend has a very good chance. :)
But she's gonna be going through a really tough patch, and it's gonna be hell. Be there for her. :) That's all you can do, and just keep going as normal.

I'm sure everything will be alright = )
Lymphoma is very easy to cure in the early stages.
Just keep being the good guy that you are to her,
She'll appreciate just being treated like normal.

Wow, Im really sorry to hear that Stephen :-(
Like others have said its going to be really tough for her and she is going to need a lot of support. It can be really tough on those close to the girl too, including your girlfriend. Its difficult to watch someone you care about hurt and know that nothing you can do can take the hurt away.
Its nice to hear you're trying to make the effort to be there for the girl and your girlfriend.
Sometimes just being there for someone, and being ready to talk about it and sometimes, to not talk about it is the only thing you can do.
I really hope everything works out as well as it can.
My thoughts are with all of you
.
