Well just read the announcement.
This is stupid.
Why didn't you just give the users a warning or ban them, instead of disabling it all for us?
That is unfair. I understand if a person said crude or inappropriate messages then that's reasonable. But why take it away from everyone else?
That's not fair.

Its only temporary until we can work out a better solution so relax.

I find it unfair, too. Those darn specific newbies.

I find it unfair, but I'm not going to complain about it, because complaining is going to do nothing but makes things worth. Just live with it for now, I've managed to make it a year on this site without visitor messages, I could make it another year without them, in fact I could spend the rest of my VT career just ignoring their existence, and it wouldn't change my VT experience. I love VT, regardless of the restrictions we face with new things presented to us. Kiros is obviously busy. I, like the rest of us, would like him to hurry things up a bit, but I understand he has a life outside of VT and that his life isn't perfect. I'm willing to wait things out; are you?

Chill guys. If it was just a couple users, it wouldn't have come to this, but many users were abusing this feature, so we had to disable it. Before vBulletin 3.7.0, this feature didn't even exist. I think we can live without them.

^^ Exactly. Guys, it's no big deal. Johnny, Matt, you've both been here for about the same amount of time as me, you've managed to make it a year/nearly a year without visitor messages... What's the big deal? I barely even realized they existed, and now that they're disabled I don't really care. If you have something to say to someone, PM them...

It was a privilege guys, and it was taken advantage of. No worries.

I completely understand the actions that were taken and I do think it is fair, but why not have them disabled till someone has been a member for a set number of days and has a set amount of posts.

I really agree. We can deal with it. It is not a huge deal. If he disabled them before he released 3.7 then you would have never even cared. Anyways, I think that it is our first priority to protect our members. If you do not want to be protected from inappropriate activity then you should really try to go to a different site. VT is being run great and right now it really doesn't help if people are 'complaining' about a feature that was removed because people were doing things that are against our rules. Yes, I will say that they could have been warned BUT that would not have solved our problem. It would just make it too private. So for right now you guys just deal with it. Do not even think about it anymore. Just pretend like it never existed. Then when it will be reintroduced act all surprised :D

I really agree with Kiros on this one...this is a community and unfortunately if we did ban the trouble makers there could always be more in the future which is a bad image for the forums and is a problem for staff.
As a lot of people have said, there finding a way round this, such as new rules etc.
so just wait it out and I'm sure the feature will return soon

Go here http://www.virtualteen.org/forums/usercp.php
And uncheck where it says "Enable Visitor Messaging" then save the changes.

I've not really since much of the new changes since i've been away, but the visitors messages looked quite neat, cept for the people who have been abusing it, in which i know one of them who did abuse it.
