Since the very first forum above this one is for admins only to read.

I think it is not right for members to reply and help.

I refuse to accept help on this forum. At least member wise.

It's only for staff to reply to. Inplus, it probably should have stated in the forum itself.

there are 3 admins and 435 active members, and some of the members are knowledgeable

I agree with Jack. People are here to help. I don't see the problem

Okay, seriously. I don't mean to be rude but if you have no questions then DO NOT ASK THEM! This is a teen site and I think most of our admins are not even teens anymore. So why would you want help from a person that is not a teen. You do not have to have a pissy attitude about people helping people. This site is based on help and you are trying to turn it into something else. Well I can tell you that it is not going to happen. This site will continue to be a help site for teens by teens. If you want to change that then I suggest you go to a different site because it seems that little to your knowledge this whole site was founded on that exact basis. So no I can assure that your 'suggestion' or complaint will not change a thing. It will merely be read and then thought about for...5 seconds and then rejected. Sorry to break it to you.

I agree. John said it all. Rep + :)

I completely agree with John.

If you are so intent on being so precise on the rules and taking forum descriptions very seriously, tell me this:
why are you posting in the suggestions forum. Is this a suggestion? It sounds like a complaint, and this is the wrong forum for that.

As said by one of our Global Moderators, Ant, in one of your threads,
A staff member isn't always online and if a member helps then you get your question answered much quicker. Just because someone has a blue, green, or red user name doesn't mean their answer is more right than someone who's been around for awhile. Help is nice because a lot has to be done here and if there's one less thing we have to explain, it allows us more time to focus on what else needs sorting.

and this was backed up by one of our other Global Moderators, Val
Also, just because moderators are assigned to forums to moderate, it doesn't by any means make them experts who can answer every single question correctly and in depth [well, except maybe Jessi :P] It's good to have a collaboration of many people because then the original poster has a much better chance of getting the best information possible.

Furthermore, what exactly are you complaining about? Like, elaborate on it...getting help in the content forums (like about puberty, mental health, social life, etc), or getting forum help, like in VirtualTeen HQ?

On this forum, like John said, it's about teens helping teens. I don't see any reason to complain about members helping members with their problems in our content forums, because we get so many questions and we only have a few moderators. Plus, we also have some of members who are extremely knowledgeable about certain topics, who aren't moderators.
The same is for forum help. If you would like official advice from only one point of view, please PM one of our staff. But for a quicker answer, with a wider spectrum of answers, post on the forums.

Maybe you should stop acting as if you are somehow entitled to help because you are not. This is a privately run website by staff volunteers. How much we put into it is entirely up to us. This site is a community where members help other members and that's how its always been. There's absolutely no reason to forbid members to help when their answer is just as good as an administrator's.

I'm sure if an administrator had problems with members giving help they would have done something about it. But they haven't because they are appreciative that members help out. I suggest you show appreciation that people even bother to help out, instead of rejecting it as not good enough. If a member says something incorrect a staff member will correct it or if something isn't explained fully, a staff member will add what's said.

Appreciation and respect to others can go a long way. I'm not impressed.

Also, this site has been SUCCESSFULLY run for...4 years now. There has not been any problems with the members giving out advice. So if it has been fine this long I am sure it will be the same for another 4 years. Long Live VT :P

Yes. This site has been surviving on the sole purpose of members helping other members.

VirtualTeen.org began as a project to help mentally ill teens. It has since expanded to include many other topics. The site's mission is to provide teens with a network of peer support.

VT is a pretty tight nit group. Its been a haven for allot of alienated youth. Including myself. Your going to get a lot of different opinions. There are a lot of people with varied experiences, each suggestion and comforting word are unique. I worry for you. It must be hard when you keep pushing everyone away.

This is a community where we are all members. Regardless of staff position everyone is a member first. I am a member first and Administrator second. The idea of a community is to be able to offer support to each other.
No one is asking you to accept help. However if you go looking for it, as a community it will be provided to you, but if you are not happy with the response, you know where the Log Out button is.

If it's such a problem that other members reply to your questions, use the PM system. Members are not discouraged from helping others out.
