I have a PC with windows xp sp3 trial pack on it in cace that is important, i know i need to get the final version.

Anyways i think i have a narly virus because i keep getting pop ups from randome anti virus sites trying to get me to buy there software (like i will when they are advertizing in the forn of annoying pop ups) there are also porn sites that keep poping up. The strange thing is these damn things pop up even when i dont have a web page open, it is really frustrating imagine having pop ups when u arent even on the web GRRRRR!!!! i really dont even know what to do i can afford to buy anti virus software right now, however i do have mcafee but it's not detecting any problem.

*bing* you have adware!
if you've already got anti virus software, a simple scan should clear it up, but if you haven't here is a free one http://avg.download--free.net/ (and its not bogus like the popups, dont worry :))

Here's what I always use to get rid of Virsues/Spyware:

A Combination of these will get rid of pretty much anything:

Avast (http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html)
Trendmicro Housecall Online AV (http://housecall65.trendmicro.com/)
MalwareBytes AntiMalware (http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/Malwarebytes_AntiMalware/1186760019/1)
Spybot S&D (http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/Spybot_Search_and_Destroy/1043809773/1)
Ad-Aware SE (http://www.oldversion.com/download.php?idlong=fa1c1ec37ceb8fe1fb3126bd5114dd77)
Windows Defender (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=435BFCE7-DA2B-4A6A-AFA4-F7F14E605A0D&displaylang=en)
VundoFix (http://vundofix.atribune.org/)
SmitFraudFix (http://siri.geekstogo.com/SmitfraudFix.php) (Must do in Safe Mode, Choose the Clean Option, and Choose Yes for Registry)

I'd be almost willing to bet that running the bolded ones alone would fix the problem. VundoFix might be the first to try.

But, the combination of those utilities will get rid of most things.

The Trendmicro Online AntiVirus is a good utility to run as well.

If you want a Free AntiVirus that Actually works very well, try Avast, which I liked above. I've used it for years, and it works great. 100% free. You just have to enter a license key once a year, which you get for free from their website.

All of them are Free 100%, except the MalwareBytes program, which is free for a while, at least, so you won't have any issues using it.

I can almost guarantee you that it's not a Virus. It's spyware, and as such, won't be detect by most AV's.

But that AV can.

And if its spyware try:
XoftspySE
Ad-Ware

But that AV can.

Maybe, maybe not.

Depends on what it is.

I'm kind of annoyed with Kaspersky right now, because I've been trying to set the trial up on a few machines where I work to run some testing on it, and possibly purchase it for all of our computers soon, and it's just caused a lot of problems. I'm working with their tech support on getting it working properly, but it's still annoying. I've been able to narrow the problem down somewhat, but it's still annoying.

I love how 90% of the time when I have problems with software like that, it's something that everyone claims has never been seen before, and they have to try to figure it out.

It's happened several times this year. And, yet, it's easily reproducible.

It's been one of the more troublesome to get working, but I'd prefer to use it over most others.

get ad-aware, scan it then do what it tells you from there. from what i have seen, everyone is recommending programs that you have to pay pretty good money for, I would just get ad-aware and do it that way. Ad-ware can get on your computer a number of ways, from things you download, pages you visit, things of that sort.

okay so i did the Kaspersky trial and it like almost crashed my computer i dont know what happend but my comp didnt like it. Well after it took my comp about 10 minutes just to start up and i wated about another 10 minutes for the Kaspersky to start running i finally got it to do a scan and it got rid of the issue after which i hastaly got the trial off mu computer because of the fact that my comp kept freezing. Well at least the unwanted programs are gone and my computer is back to mormal now!! thanx for your help guys and hopefully my mcafee will be enough to keep me frotected in the future.
